Dr. Bhanu K Sunku, MD

Dr. Sunku would not see my daughter because she is behind on her immunizations. She has had 16 immunizations and is 2 years old, she was born premature and has a neurological condition. So much for the Hippocratic Oath, do no harm. We had to scramble to find a new gastro quickly (her twin was already a patient of his) while my daughter was screaming in pain.

He was very good with both of my kids. He diagnosed them being Lactose Intolerant and was very easy to talk to. My only complaint about him is we saw him for my son and then 3 weeks later, we came in for my daughter and he didn't even know who we were. Very big practice and he doesn't remember patients. However, the main thing is he didn't dismiss us and took his time with us. All in all, we would go back to him again if needed.

Nice person but quickly diagnosed my son's severe pain as constipation. Didn't go the extra steps until we insisted. Easily went to 'stress' as the answer. Relied too heavily on 1 xray rather than listening to how painful the experiences were for my son. Even tho my son moves his bowels everyday, takes Myralax, etc. he still insisted it was constipation. Again, he misdiagnosed a more serious illness. Would not recommend.

Dr. Sunku took the time to educate my 16 yr. old daughter on her possible GERD condition and wasn't quick to jump to more invasive procedures~ Rather, he recommended monitoring her with clear instructions on dietary and lifestyle modifications. Would highly recommend to others. Loved him!

Dr Sunku is excellent! He has been the Pedi GI for both of my sons and I would highly recommend him to any parent with a child having GI issues. He is very thorough, miticulous and methodical. he gives me a good plan with different things to try everytime I see him. He explains what we should or shouldn't do and why in a simple, concise manner. He is understanding to the real demands of parenthood and realistic with solutions. you might have to wait a couple weeks to see him, but its worth the wait.
