Dr. Billi Sue Wallace, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Billi Wallace from 2006 to 2016 when she was the neuro ophthalmologist at Sabates Eye Center. She saved my eyesight. I was 34 years old at that time and started to not clearly see things. Watching television, i was unable to see the nose of the actor. On the day I met her for the appointment, she immediately requested a MRI of the brain. I had the MRI and I remember Dr. Wallace calling me around 8:30 p.m. telling me that I need to consult a neurosurgeon because I have tumor in my pituitary gland that was pressing on my optic nerve. I was operated the week after by my neurosurgeon. She did not waste precious time and that made a big difference in my life.

Only help she gave me was spending my insurance money on glasses that don’t help but make the problem worse. Seems like a scam. Thanks for nothing and the terrible bed side manner.

After dealing with Drs. in our home town and deciding we were getting nowhere we were directed to Dr. Wallace who accurately diagnosed what my husbands condition was. She ordered tests that had not previously been performed by local Drs. and husband was dianosed with a rare form of paraneoplastic syndrome. This indicated cancer and as it turns out my husband has sclc. He has had chemotherapy for the cancer and we are getting ready to make our second trip to Mayo's as our local Drs. don't have the experience needed for this illness. Thanks to Dr. Wallace , I just wish we would have seen her earlier. A very pleasant Dr. with an accurate diagnoses. The only problem we encountered was when trying to get tests scheduled thru the people who answer the phones at Sabetes center.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wallace for 4 years, & I think she is very knowledgeable & extremely caring. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Wallace to anyone in need of a neuro-ophthalamologist!

I went to this doctor as a last resort. I had spent alot of time and money with other doctors trying to find out why I had lost sight in my left eye. I am a corporate professional and for me, time is money. My mother and father are both medical professionals. My mother flew into KC to be with me at this appointment, as I was starting to believe that I would never have 100% vision again. Doctor Wallace ran the same tests that I had already completed with four other doctors. This seemed like a waste of my time since she had the paperwork from the ER doctor, the retina specialist, etc...Dr. Wallace then proceded to repeat the same tests again and again. At one point she stopped and asked me if I could read the chart. I gave her my best shot. She said that I "wasn't trying" and I should basically stop wasting her time. I sincerely COULD NOT SEE. I pulled away from the lens and said "Lady- I'm not f*cking kidding! I CAN NOT READ IT!" She stood there with her arms folded and… said "well, we can wait all day". I was ready to walk- but my mother encouraged me to try again. Still- nothing. Dr. Wallace finally came to the decision that I had optic neuritis and I should take steroids to fix the problem. Luckily, I did enough research and I did the steroid treatments. Within the next 90 days- I could see again. I am grateful to have a diagnosis and improved vision, but I have NEVER had a doctor treat me this way. I am a firm beliver that doctor's work for US...the patient. They should treat us with absolute care and respect. When someone is blind and scared- you do not make a mockery of their situation and treat them as if they are wasting your time.
