How many times can you read someone under that mask? Well I loved this doc. She asked me what questions I had up front so I wouldn’t forget to tell her! She made sure to address what I wanted done. Love that smile under the mask and made being a patient brighter.

She goes the extra mile to get to know my concerns and wishes about my husband’s health. She held my hand, gave me a tissue, and really listened when I felt others didn’t. She knew I wasn’t ready for hospice and presented everything in a balanced, realistic, but compassionate way. She shared her personal experience with her own family with hard decisions like I had to make. This showed me her maturity and willingness to hear what my wants were. Lovely human being!

Dr. Patel understood what it meant to have a family member with a critical illness and held my hand, gave me a tissue, and really listened to how hard it was for me not to give up. Everyone else was talking about hospice and I wasn’t ready for that and Dr. Patel really listened to me and shared a personal experience. She is a lovely human being and not like others who couldn’t understand what I was saying in how rapid my husband changed. It was too much for me to grasp and she said we had time to go through things. I didn’t feel she was giving up hope like others told me but she also gave me a balanced, realistic, and step-wise approach to my husband’s care.

This is the one! She was empathetic and was patient with me even though I felt like I asked the same question so many times. Dr. Patel explained things in a way I could understand. I felt she cared about me as a person as she really explored details outside of my health (example-work stress) that contributed to my health. She was humble and thorough-she picked up that I had diabetes for years, but didn’t throw the doctor who missed it under the bus and told me she reviewed my outside records for hours. This made me feel she looked at everything carefully. I appreciated her care during my two day stay at Evanston Hospital.

Very professional, explained things in a way I could understand, treated me like I was her family, I felt very cared for. Best hospitalist I have seen in this system.

She is the worst doctor I have ever had. Does not listen to her patients and disregards all information they give her to help her help themselves. She thinks that she knows everything and Gd forbid you are an exception not the rule. She tells you one thing and then does the opposite. If I could have switched doctors I would’ve but she was the hospitalist I was stuck with. She really makes me consider ever going back to this hospital because I would NEVER even want to take the chance of being stuck with her again.
