Dr. Blake Elgin Elkins, MD

Very dry and hard to talk to. I had gained 30lbs after my thyroidectomy and was looking for some help. He didn’t seem at all concerned and told me if I lose 10lbs to come back. If I could do that I wouldn’t of asked for help.

Endocrinologist that says testosterone is only responsible for sex drive in men! Wouldn’t prescribe dosage I’ve been on for 17 years before being referred to him by primary care. Told him my levels were high because I was taking P6 from GNC But refused to believe me because it wasn’t FDA regulated. Lol. No worldly experience or common sense.

Elkins seems to know nothing about testosterone and it’s function. He told me via a phone call that it is only responsible for sex drive in men!! He refused to fill my androgel at the dosage I’ve been on for 17 years just because I was on supplements from GNC that gave me a higher rating than normal but refused to believe me even though I told him it happened once before with a Dr from family practice He violated the Hipocratic oath of first do no harm by making me go a month with only half my usual dosage since he was trying to protect his medical license I’m now waiting 10 days to see what my levels are now . He also said we could only go up to 3 pumps a day of androgel if my levels come back at half of normal which is 650. Again violating the medical oath and causing another month of low energy and weight gain. This guy should not be allowed to practice but fits right in with the military drs at Keesler AFB. None know what they are doing.

He didn't seem to be very smart. Asks other doctors for help.

Since my first visit with Dr. Elkins 3 years ago I have been truly impressed with his knowledge, skills, and expertise. I have also been impressed with his care and treatment of his patient as an individual with individual needs and not just another number. He is able to communicate his thoughts clearly yet respectfully. I have also been pleased with his thought process and ability to think through situations and processes to a clear and accurate conclusion. I cannot say enough about my respect for him as a professional and as a person.
