I was at a point in my life where my lifestyle was either be in pain forever or have surgery. After traveling 4 hours to see Dr Staub, it was the best decision of my life. He was pleasantly professional and gave me my options. The good and bad. He explained the procedure and the pros and cons. There wasn't any hidden agenda. My chances were 30% it wouldn't work, 30% of being as is and 30% we would be walking. His staff and his own confidence, affirmed that I had made the right decision. I am blessed, I now am walking without assistance, NO WHEELCHAIR! I cannot give enough stars for my experience. He was 100% the right choice.

Dr. Staub was great to work with. He explained the procedure well and gave me a lot of confidence that the surgery was going to solve my problem. I had been experiencing a loss of strength in my left arm for some time. Dr. Staub prescribed an MRI, CT scan, and additional nerve tests to confirm his diagnosis. I was immediately better following surgery. I began to regain function in my arm within hours. It has been one month now and I continue to feel better and you can barely see my scar. I would recommend Dr. Staub and Texas Back Institute to anyone experiencing spine problems.

I had back pain that grew progressively worse over the last 20 years and for the last 5 years, it significantly limited my ability to be on my feet for more than 10 minutes at a time. For many years, chiropractic treatments and physical therapy provided relief, but at a certain point, my problems no longer responded to those non-invasive options. In my mind, surgery was an option of last resort because of the stories I had heard about procedures that were unsuccessful, or left the patient worse off than before the surgery. What I gathered over my journey with my back is that it is often difficult to determine the specific cause of back pain, and each set of circumstances is different. I was referred to the Texas Back Institute a couple of years ago by a couple of different sources. Dr. Blake Staub performed surgery on my back 3 months ago. Since that time, I have had NO pain in my spine. I am becoming more active with each day and my only limitations are related to my back muscles… being out of shape. I wish I had chosen to have the surgery years ago. Every case is different, but mine has turned out better than I could have imagined. I'm sharing my experience as a "Thank You" to Dr. Staub for his wisdom and surgical expertise. The result is an answer to many prayers.

I had an accident 23 years ago that left me with pars fractures at L5. Over time the L5 vertebrae slipped forward causing degeneration of the disc btw L5/S1 resulting in my right foot to feel numb when walking and horrible sciatic pain. I went to 3 different neurosurgeons. One wanted to do a PLIF, another wanted to do an ALIF with traditional PLIF approach. Then I came upon Dr. Staub who also followed a similar approach (ALIF) BUT with minimally invasive PLIF (which has less recovery time/less pain). He seemed extremely confident, very easy to talk to, and down to earth. I had a list of questions and he answered every single one of them, never rushing me. I had surgery 9 days ago and I feel great! I can walk unassisted, no more sciatic pain, and I have officially stopped the pain meds. He knew exactly how much of the slip to correct as to not overstretch my nerves (he was the only one to mention this!!!). I knew I was in great hands the whole time. I have no regrets! Thank you Dr.… Staub, you are a wonderful doctor, I couldn't have asked for better!

Dr. Blake Staub and entire staff is beyond excellent. My mother traveled from Oklahoma to consult with Dr. Staub after an unsuccessful scoliosis surgery that left her unable to stand up straight, walk without assistance or without pain. From the initial consult to the post op care, Dr. Staub has provided her with outstanding care. His surgical plan for her was made with great care and consideration of her age, health and physical state. He was successful in correcting the damage her previous surgery had caused while also providing her with a significant correction to her curvature. Her recovery has been seamless and she has a new lease on life. Dr. Staub truly breaks the mold for an outstanding, talented surgeon who provides successful physical outcomes in order to improve his patient’s overall quality of life at the same time.

I had very little hope that Dr. Staub could help me but he thought differently. After reviewing my films and records he put a new plan of surgery for me. At 74, I was facing a very complex surgery to correct damage the first surgery caused and to realign my spine so I could stand up. My quality of life and mobility was poor. I had little hope for the future. But Dr. Staub was able to provide me with an amazing outcome. I am now able to stand up straight and move without pain. He does everything with great detail and provides continued care from the first consult to the post op appointments. Most important, he cares about his patients’ quality of life and wants them to have healthy, successful outcomes.

Dr. Blake Staub performed a lumbar laminectomy on my lower back about four weeks ago and I am VERY pleased with the results. I had been experiencing great pain in both of my legs from the waist down for the last five months. After my first consultation with Dr. Staub reviewing my MRI, he suggested I try pain injections BEFORE even considering surgery. When those three injections did not work over several months, I went back to Dr. Staub for the surgery. The hospital he works is is brand new and just five star all the way through from the wonderful nursing care to the delicious food. After a 1.5 hour surgery, I was in my private hospital room recovering beautifully. A short two hours later, I was up for my first walk.......and ALL of my leg pain was gone! And to this day, I have no pain in my legs! Thank you Dr. Staub for giving me back my normal lifestyle! I can now walk anywhere and play Pickleball pain free!

Dr. Staub is the best doctor I have ever had the privilege of seeing. He is very professional but also has a great personality. He answers all questions, explains things to you in a way that you understand and by using your x-rays/MRI's and never do you feel like he is in a hurry, nor does he talk down to you. From the moment you enter the office you are welcomed with smiles from his front desk staff, then you get to meet Alex his assistant, Reggie his PA and Kelly who takes care of all your pre-op and all paper work who are all as professional and nice as Dr. Staub. I have had interaction with several of the radiology staff who are also the best. I have never had to wait more than 4-5 minutes. The office runs very smooth. I have had 2 spine surgeries (cervical and lumbar) within 5 months and have had the easiest and best recovery from both.

My husband is 50 yr old and has/had combination scoliosis (64 degree on top and 46 degree on bottom). His daily living and job became severely impacted from the constant pain from the scoliosis. He was surviving on pain pills and muscle relaxers. It was awful. We were referred to Dr. Staub through a friend who is a surgeon. He told us Texas Back Institute is the only place we should go for surgery! He was right!! Dr. Staub and his entire staff are simply amazing! Dr. Staub fused T3 all the way to L4 on my husband. It was a 6.5 hour surgery. I will not lie ... the first few days were really rough (and thank God, he does not remember them). But we knew there was light at the end of the tunnel and he knew the pain was surgical pain and not scoliosis pain. After 3 weeks, my husband is totally pain free and not taking any pain medicine!!! He has even stopped four of his medications for breathing problems and heart medication!! My husband was in the hospital 6 days and in… rehab for 8 days. The therapists at Baylor Scott & white were fantastic, too. Dr. Staub had my husband go there for in-patient rehab. The therapists there had all been trained on what to do by Dr. Staub and Dr. Lieberman. I am so thankful he was able to go to rehab!! My husband is doing absolutely fantastic!! We are so glad he had the surgery. And we are ecstatic that we found Dr. Staub and his staff!
