If I could make the number of stars negative, I would!! Dr. Bateman removed my thyroid and apparently during surgery damaged or removed my parathyroid. I was supposed to be in the hospital over night and was there 6 days!! He then let me go home and I had to go to ambulatory care at the hospital Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri and then to the ER on Sat and Sun for IV calcium and potassium...this went on for 6 WEEKS!!! He never once saw me again and sent his nurse practitioner in to take my stitches out. He turned it over to his wife (she's a doctor too) to set my iv doses. Well after 57 IV sticks (and me begging for a central line that he declined when called) and 6 weeks of the same mess, I went to Birmingham. Dr, Bateman promised my parathyroid was still there and would pick back up in within a few weeks...is what he said. I went to the head of endocrinology at UAB and he said there was no presence of a parathyroid!! They did scans and extensive bloodwork. So every time I get a fever or… bad stomach bug I end up in the hospital and I have had many complications because it causes low calcium (hypocalcaemia). I never had blood pressure issues until this and because of the parathyroid issue it causes me to have high blood pressure, well now my kidneys are failing due to all of this. I was told I couldn't sue beacuse it was a risk associated with the thyroidectomy, even though he never pointed that out to me. I WOULD NOT SEND EVEN SOMEONE I DISLIKE TO THIS MAN!!!

I have previously been to Dr. Bateman’s office. Up until the last time I visited, he was very likable and provided all the information I needed for the problem I had. I went to him about 6 months ago, and his responses were a little off center. I asked him questions and he just simply wouldn’t not answer. I finally said, “you are not going to answer my questions, are you?” He still had no response. Very strange. I had an appointment to see him today. When I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, there were 2 other people there. Within a few minutes later, 2 more patients arrived. When 45 minutes passed, no one went to the back and no one from the back came out. I then learned that Dr. Bateman was not even in the office and receptionist did not given any further information.Another patient said he had the same appointment time I had. I left. There was another lady also left behind me. I have found another ENT doctor and will never go back to Dr. Bateman. My morning was wasted!

Dr. Bateman has seen me on several occasions (mole removals, wax removals from ears, hearing problems, and repair of a torn earlobe). He always makes me feel calm and makes me smile. He is one of the BEST! He takes time to explain what needs to be done. He cares about his patients....and it is highly evident. May God bless him always. My family adores him!

I recently had a thyroidectomy. I have been so impressed by the way Dr. Bateman and his staff have been so attentive and kind to my needs as a patient. Dr. Bateman even called to check on me after the surgery and see how the synthroid was working. Very impressive!

Very poor communication skills. Examination was very brief. Was not thorough at all. His comments and responses seemed rehearsed as if reading from a script. Did not follow through with scheduling diagnostic testing. Left undiagnosed and untreated with no communication. Very disappointed!!!

Dr Bateman is the best! He is very informative, friendly, and takes his time with his patients. I feel very at ease in his office. Also, his staff (especially Sherry) is wonderful!

Great Doctor and Staff i recommend highly he is a dr for the entire family

Dr Bateman has a lazy and unreliable staff , they do not understand " customer service " . I would not recommend this ENT doctor , I've never encountered such unorganized , forgetful , and unsatisfactory doctors offices that they have in Anniston Alabama !!!!

I was so disappointed. I have ear pain and throat pain and he never really did a through exam. I am still having the pain and trying to get in to see someone else. My throat has something that looks like ulcers on it and I am afraid that I might have throat cancer. He never even looked in my throat and I told home that my throat, ear and neck had pain. Now I am in severe pain.....I got the impression that he is more concerned with cosmetic surgery than illnesses.
