Dr. Brad W Graff, DDS

I have been going to Dr. Graff for well over ten years now. He is pleasant, professional, and most important to me, he has demonstrated superior skills in Dentistry, and takes actual pride in doing his job well. Just doing an acceptable job is not enough for Dr. Graff. It must be done right, according to 'his own' standards. He reminds me of a time when everyone took great pride in their work. Now it seems far to many are happy by simply doing a good job. The idea of doing more than what is absolutely necessary to keep a higher standard than others, is not often seen, by me, in today's culture. When I was much younger, in the 1970s, there was a period of time where the health food industry at the natural foods level believed eating a lemon a day was excellent for cleansing the body of impurities. For more than a decade I had a lemon almost every single day. I had no idea that I was absolutely destroying the enamel on my teeth until many long years later and the damage was… already done. Before Dr. Graff, I had little hope that my teeth would ever look normal, never mind looking nice. This really stunk for me because until my later 30s I had a really great smile which I loved to use and see others smile back. My smile disappeared over time. For over seven years I went to another dentist before beginning with Dr. Graff. During that time they fabricated a partial for me. I was not familiar with partials. So after they verified my fit, after I complained it did not feel right, I assumed that my experience with that partial was the same as everyone else . That partial failed over time. Dr. Graff made me a new partial. It seemed to take longer for it to be finished and it seemed like I had perhaps one or two more appointments than I remembered having for the prior partial that was breaking. I was hoping that the new partial would at least as acceptable as the last partial. I was blown away when Dr. Graff, 'snapped' that new partial in place. All at once I received a massive lesson in what an excellent partial is supposed to feel like and what a badly made or fitted partial felt like. My old partial had a gap of almost 1/4" at the roof of my mouth. My tongue constantly wanted to play with it and worse it would continually fill with food crumbs. I had to remove the partial after anything I ate. I also needed to use the gel to hold the old partial in place if I planned to eat anything. The old partial also always felt like 'something' was in my mouth. I could never totally forget it being there. Dr. Graff's partial amazed me. It felt really good and can not be compared to the old partial. I ran my tongue over the roof of my mouth to see how much of a gap the new partial had. My tongue was not able to discern exactly where the partial began and the normal roof of my mouth ended. There was no discernible difference. When I first saw the partial that Dr. Graff made I had some concern because the part that touched the roof of my mouth was not uniform and smooth. It had variations which I incorrectly assumed was something not perfect with the forming of that part. I learned that what I thought were irregular variations in the top of my partial actually created a perfect mirror image of my own mouth. They were there because my upper mouth is not perfectly smooth and he wanted the fit to be totally natural. It was wonderful. I felt great happiness and a bit of strong anger. I was so happy with the new partial and also upset that for years I had put up with a partial that I suddenly realized was faulty in design or mold and which gave me grief daily. Before I left the office I had already forgotten that the partial was in place. It felt so natural as I was speaking and having a good time with Dr. Graff and his assistant. Even the diction of my voice, the sound of my words and articulation was enhanced. My words not only sounded better but felt better as I formed them. I have now had the partial for seven years. It is just as good today as the day I got it. Although I have tried to be extremely careful with the partial I have dropped it a few times despite that. The partial holds up wonderfully. I eat anything and everything I want with the partial including corn on the cob and ribs and have not once needed to use any type of paste or adhesive. I have had an extensive amount of work done over the years. Dr. Graff balanced three things for me. 1. My fixed income which allowed a very meausred slow pace in repair time. 2. How bad my teeth actually were. 3. My desire to get my front teeth looking good quickly. All other doctors pretty much just went after the worse teeth first and worked from there to the least problem teeth. I guess that made sense since the worst teeth created the highest profit. Dr. Graff took into account my own desire to also see a difference in my smile, even if he was working on some teeth that provided less income. I fully trust Dr. Graff. Do not get me wrong. He is no super-dentist who can not make a mistake. He happens to be human and I make allowances for people to be human. Within the human species is a vast assortment of people. He just takes pride in his work and has his own standards which dictate the amount of work he does. "Good enough," is something I have never heard him say, or imply. Should he decides to retire sometime in the far future. it is my intention that he make me a new partial regardless of what condition my own partial is in. I would much rather get a new partial made properly by someone who truly understands how much work is required to properly fit. To me that is far better than waiting until my current partial no longer fits my changing bone structure and someone else produces a new partial that I will be always aware is in my mouth.
