Dr. Braden Dunbar, DO

I went to see this doctor for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to self pay, as is my right since I would not be reaching the deductible on my insurance. I have never had a problem doing this before with any other doctor or medical service. This doctor told me that going outside of insurance was, “insurance fraud”. She did not believe I could pay out of pocket. I assured her it was well within my right to do so. After the visit concluded, I went to check out with a lady in reception. When I reached for my credit card she said, “What are you doing, is that your insurance card?” I said I was paying with credit card. She flat out told me I could not do that and that I was committing insurance fraud. This lady forced me to run the services through insurance even though that was against my wishes— threatening me with a claim that I was breaking the law if I didn’t. She accused me of fraud. I was completely put in a corner and in shock about the whole thing. She ran… my office visit and other referral services through my insurance which I later had to sort out with them. Mind you, am on my partner’s family plan and this effected him as well. He was not happy. I called the office a few days later to ask to speak to the billing department about my charge for the visit. They connected me to billing which is run through NKC Hospital. I was told the charge that was billed to insurance and I asked if I could have self paid for that charge. The billing lady said I absolutely always have that option!!! She told me that if I wanted to pay out of pocket due to my deductible not being met, that should have been fine and she did not know why this office would not let me do that. Needless to say, all of my treatments have now been postponed as I search for a more competent and ethical doctor’s office to meet my medical needs.

I was seen by dr Dunbar while my doctor was on vacation I wasn't thrilled about seeing a different doctor as I have been with the same one for about ten years but didn't have a choice since my doctor was gone. I was very happy with my experience, her bedside manner was outstanding , she spent time in my room and explained everything in detail I didn't feel rushed like I normally do during my office visits. The young lady that took me to the room was just as friendly as Dr Dunbar with that being said I am switching from a doctor myself and family has seen for ten years to Dr Dunbar
