Dr. Brenda Sue Baker, MD

During my initial consultation with Dr. Baker six months ago, I encountered an uncomfortable experience that has left me hesitant about returning to her or any other medical professional. Expressing concern about my hormone levels following 15 years on birth control pills, I was met with what felt like dismissal and an insinuation that my request was unreasonable. Dr. Baker's approach, combined with a demeaning tone, left me upset during and after the appointment, making it challenging for me to consider seeking further medical assistance.

Honestly only had experience with her as an on-call dr during off hours. Boils down to she insisted I wasn't in labor for about 6 hours when I most definitely was because when I eventually went to the hospital was dilated enough to be admitted and had my baby later that day. Labored in bed by myself (sent my husband to the couch b/c the dr said I wasn't in labor) as a first time mom because she couldn't be bothered to do her job. She sounded annoyed each time (3x) I called her. Eventually I went to my husband, gave him the phone, he lied about my symptoms so she would give us the green light to go in (I was too anxious to go in without her saying so) and was admitted and given my epidural as soon as the triage area checked me (so about 20 mins in all after she finally agreed I might be in labor b/c we live close to the hospital). She wasn't even one of my doctors at the hospital. I think one of the doctors in her clinic delivered my baby and was nice, so it's too bad that Dr. Baker is… so unkind. I would say that if you're pregnant go somewhere else, and if you do have to interact with her good luck.

Dr baker bases her practice on a handful of standard tests without taking the patients experience into account. looking a bit deeper, based on symptoms that are of concern goes a long way. Now that I am treated elsewhere I truly see what it is like to be heard and treated holistically by a gyn.

Dr. Baker did not pay close attention to my concerns.

Unlike my other doctors she calls you with results, and she will spend time reviewing them, making a plan and most importantly answering all the questions I forgot to ask during the visit.

Dr. Baker has taken care of me for many years and I can't recommend her highly enough. Her office staff is so friendly and helpful when scheduling appointments. I rarely have a long wait to be seen. I had to have an emergency surgery during one of my pregnancies for a twisted ovary and Dr. Baker had the expertise to do it. Her calm nature kept me from freaking out with worry for my baby. My sister also sees her and had a c-section with her first baby but was supported and encouraged to have a VBAC with her second. If you want an ob/gyn who cares about you and wants the best for you and your baby this is the doc for you.

Dr. Baker delivered my son. She was not my regular OB, but happened to be the doctor on call from my OB practice when I delivered. One of the nurses said, "a lot of other doctors wouldn't have been that patient and would have made you get a c-section." (Baby's heart rate was dipping with each contraction on pitocin.) She wasn't the MOST touchy feely doctor in the world, but she definitely cares, and she knows what she's doing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.
