Dr. Brendan Joseph Beresford, MD

I went to Dr. Beresford for a second opinion. While I was a patient with my previous psych, I was prescribed eight medicines in two years. In the past four months, he has done more than my previous doctor did in two years. He's prescribed the medicines I actually need, listens to me, asks questions, gets to know me, answers my questions, and follows up

This doctor ruined my life. He diagnosed me with “anxiety” and gave me a prescription for 4mg of Xanax/day. I was 22 years old. 10 years later “when he realized” my tolerance to the medication had increased (naturally), he called to reprimanding me for my irresponsibility in taking the the large dosage he prescribed. He explained that it was not only me who was responsible for this, but admitted the he “was not paying attention”. Furthermore, when I called a month later and asked to see him, the girl at the desk informed me he will no longer treat me as a patient. Shame on you. I’m writing this because I don’t think that anyone deserves to loose 10 years of their life on a daily dosage of enough benzos to tranq. A horse; simply because their md was “not paying attention”. Please be careful.

This office and Beresford, I refuse to call him doctor, stopped seeing me as a patient because of a small balance (less than 100.00) and refused to refill my medication I have been taking a long time. This is terrible patient care and according to an attorney medical malpractice?? I was not given any type of notice and always paid my balance when I saw him, but nope I guess they needed the money that badly. I would not recommend Beresford and now believe the other terrible reviews here.

Not recommended at all. In my opinion he has the compassion of a rock.

Love this psychiatrist. Spends quality time with patients and takes the time to get to know you.

Dr. Beresford cares about his patients. He follows up when needed. He is also very friendly and personable. The only downside I can think up of Dr. Brandon's Beresford is the punctuality he's often quite late but worth the wait.

Best psychiatrist I've ever been to. Professional & courteous. Spends time and really listens to what is happening to the patient. Very helpful and depending the current evaluation arranges for the next follow-up visit.

I spent 10mins with Dr.B, because he was 45mins late for our first appt. Within the first 5 mins, he thought bi-polar although i have didn't mention any traits of such -- i truly believe he is more interested in pushing pills then treating the "illness". I think it's time his morals and beliefs be revisited. He is truly abusing his power to medicate.

Dr. Beresford discharged my daughter from an inpatient unit at MacNeal Hospital when she was delusional. I objected and a second psychiatrist examined her and found her manic and delusional. Beresford was callous, dismissed my concerns and made no attempt to contact my daughter's long-time psychiatrist and therapist, who both urged hospitalization in this crisis.
