Dr. Brett C Gunter, MD

My husband has a HUGE L1 disc herniation and was referred to this doctor. Instead of seeing doctor we saw his PA Andrew Palmer who advised us that if we were a member of his family he wouldn't recommend surgery. Instead he ordered an epidural injection and PT with a return visit in 3weeks. Fast forward to 3wk visit. Again saw no acutal Doctor/Nuero- surgeon only PA Palmer who asked, after we told him of no relief from epidural or PT, how many injections my husband had.( Really, how many are given in a 3 wk period we wondered.) PA Palmer said at that time "That's not the result I expected. You will have to have surgery.". My husband had asked the wonderful staff at In Shape PT to write a report for Dr Gunter. They were kind enough to take the time to do so.Upon being told by myself and my husband that we will be consulting with another Neuro-surgeon in that practice PA Palmer didn't even read the PT report he signed. Upon checking out we paid our copay and left. We saw our GP the… following day and scheduled an appointment with the Doctor of our choice. Before our appointment with new doctor, we received a letter advising us of another appointment with Mr.Palmer(which we DIDN'T set). I feel that we wasted almost 2 months waiting for first appointment only to see Dr Gunter's PA twice. Never Dr. Gunter himself. Thankfully surgery is scheduled soon for my husband after suffering such a long time due to Dr Gunter's bad judgement in letting his PA do his job in diagnosing my husband's condition.

Seen negative comments but what he did today for my wife was simply awesome. While it’s hard to actually meet the man , he came by during the 2 hour prep time and explained it all and said a prayer with us. My wife had slow recovery but they took their time and she is excited about all the pain that disappeared.

Unfortunately he thinks he is God.

My wife was so relieved to hear good things from Dr. Gunter's assistant physicians. Her pain from pinched neck nerves was something almost routine to fix. That was two weeks ago and the request for pre certification to BCBS still has not been sent by Dr. Gunter's staff. We called and get "she's been out sick"... OK... seems there is only one person who can work on pre cert and getting surgery scheduled? I'll change the star rating when we can get someone to process the @!#$%@ insurance request to BCBS, who will then take time to process and then pass back to the Dr.'s office who will then schedule the surgery. Seems they should warn you about how many weeks you can expect to stay in pain. They told us two but we haven't left the starting line yet. A business like this shouldn't shut down because one person is out sick. (and we all get sick) My name is John Mattis and I live in Lugoff SC.

Before doing my back surgery this morning, Dr. Gunter and his PA, Andy Palmer, came into my room and said a prayer for me. Remarkable physician, I am so blessed to having found Dr. Gunter and Andy to take care of my surgery. This will be my 4th back surgery. Now my prayers are answered, Dr. Gunter and Andy did a wonderful job taking care of me. Thanks to the two of you for your prayers and dedication. Bobby Blume 11/30/17

This doctor talks away from you not to you is rude, indigent, and will tell you that your injury is not that serious.

I DESPISE THIS DOCTOR!!! ABSOLUTELY THE MOST ARROGANT, DISRESPECTFUL, CONTENTIOUS DOCTOR I HAVE EVER MET!!!!!! AND I PLAN ON TELLING EVERYONE WHO MENTIONS HIS NAME HOW THIS LOW LIFE TREATS PEOPLE. OH AND DID I MENTION HE'S ALSO A LIER?

I would like a give Dr. Gunter and Dr. Palmer two thumbs up. Two of the most well professional educated doctors I've ever come in contact with. Would like to say my entire experience which I had a fusion of the lower back was nothing that I have read about their entire way of doing things is the cutting edge the recovery from this excellent. thank you Dr. Gunter and Dr. Palmer.
