Dr. Brian John Battersby JR., MD

First of all, the office. - I always come in 10 minutes before my appointment time. And end up waiting over an hour to actually go back to be seen by the doctor. I have to take a whole day off work whenever I come because of the ridiculous wait times. What’s the point of appointments if I have to wait an hour after my given time? Then, the Doctor has horrible bedside manner. Scribbles on his paper (like literally drawing scribbles and shapes) as he talks to patients. And was very offensive and rude when speaking about my needing to lose weight which is part of my treatment. I’m fine with needing to lose weight, but there’s nicer ways to tell someone and to discuss it then to offend and demean someone about it. He was aware of it, too, he just didn’t care about being offensive. He comes off like he feels like he’s high above everyone else. It’s not just ‘being blunt’. It’s straight up rudeness. Would not recommend this office or Dr. Battersby.

I am new to New Bern and went to see dr Battersby because of back pain. I would not recommend this dr. Very unprofessional. I had previous MRI from Florida and a consultation from there that recommended I needed surgery I wasn’t able to complete my surgery there because our house sold. I had previously had shots and Pt which did not help. When I had my consultation with dr Battersby I handed the MRI report to him to view he threw it on his desk and said I dont listen to what other drs say and it doesn’t matter that’s why I am the only dr in this practice. He recommended PT and shots again. Never said he wanted another MRI but said that’s all you need. I had another dr opinion that looked at my previous mri had a new one taken to compare and said yes surgery is needed that it wouldn’t be able to be fixed with Pt or shots.

Dr. Battersby has not only been my doctor, but he's been my family's orthopedic; Be it surgery or just a little 'grease the wheels' visit, Dr. Brian Battersby has and will continue to be our doctor of choice.

I waited 55 minutes for my second appt. I told the nurse when I was called back, I was getting ready to leave and her response was go ahead and leave. I did leave. How rude can a person be? My neighbor told me Dr. Battersby operated on his back and did a good job. I refuse to be treated in a manor that my time is not any significance what so ever.

In reading the reviews, I was wondering if I was seeing the same doctor!! I made the appt because I had in fact incurred an acute injury to my left knee-very specific, not arbitrary knee pain. I explained in detail what had occurred and the problems I have had since the 'accident'. I also explained to him that the injury had caused the pain to progress from my knee, down through my calf and ankle (probably due to the manner I was forced to walk due to the injury and pain). He took a couple of x-rays (which doesn't show ligament or tendon damage). He walked in stated that I had some arthritis (no surprise to me-15 yrs of sports will do this and I HAD experience with that). Gave me a shot, which helped for a SHORT period of time. But by the time I went to bed, I was in the same pain that sent me to him to begin with. He wrote me an Rx and made an appt for 6 wks.

Would not recommend to anyone!! Please use caution before using this Dr. always get a 2nd opinion and stayed informed of your medical condition and pray pray pray!!!

I was in a very bad wreck several years ago(I was rear ended at a red light by a truck towing another truck going 55 mph while I was stopped;lucky to be alive)and went to see Dr. Battersby since I had hurt my back,neck,right wrist,right ankle and my right knee.Sent me to physical therapy, put me on a walking program with an ankle I found out later had 3 torn ligaments which led to arthritis and treated me like I was not hurt. When I did not get better after 3 months he did no Mris of my neck or back and told me I should go to Chiropractic. By the way I trusted him in the beginning because he was a doctor by the time I realized how serious my right knee had become it had become post-traumatic arthritis. Unfortunately, on some bad advice from a lawyer, I went back to him after a couple of years when my ankle and wrist got worse. He didn't even examine me, he sent me for an MRI of my neck and back and on follow up appt he couldn't even remember he had sent me for an MRI of my neck even… though it was stated to look for arthritis of the neck. I had to go see another doctor to find out and see my neck mri that i had stenosis.I recently found out that my wrist is also post-traumatic arthritis due to damage to the articular cartilage.In closing, I got no help at all with my injuries and by his lack of treatment I believe I am worse off.

Will not even foward records after refusing to see me after taking on my accident case. Demanding payment of just (get this) $95., may not seem like a lot but when your out of work for 2 1/2 years its a fortune.Case has not been settled, and cannot be until my records are intact. Wouldn't recommed him for pet care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
