Dr. Brian Shannon Donovan, MD

This guy must own a ton of stock in big pharma. He should be nicknamed the pusher. And don't question his methods because he will throw a fit and become the rudest son of a b.... In the world. I don't like this guy one bit.

I live part time in another country and part time in Tucson, AZ. There has been a pandemic and it has been very difficult to travel to the US, as well as extremely expensive. I am a healthcare provider as well. I have a comprehensive lab panel with all 10 markers of thyroid health and sent this to Dr. Donavan. I also changed insurance companies so needed a refill of my thyroid medication. Not only did he refuse to refill my prescription, he was incredible rude about it. He doesn't even understand how to read an entire thyroid panel. I showed him before and he didn't even look at it. Now, he demands I fly to Tucson to see him for 5 minutes in order to refill a thyroid prescription that I've been on for the last 15 years. A plane ticket is, on average, $900. If I treated my patients this way, I wouldn't be in practice, because I don't work with insurance companies. His lack of compassion, understanding and care continues to give Western medicine a bad name. Shame on him for depriving me… of needed thyroid medication. I will never ever recommend this doctor to anyone.

Dr. Donovan is now in his own practice at Casalim at 2902 E Grant Rd, in Tucson, AZ. I really like him. He's a straight shooter, has a nice manner about him and answers all your questions. He spends a goodly amount of time with you and gets to know you. I feel like he would not over-prescribe medication and orders all the necessary tests. I also like his office staff. His main office staff person is super friendly and helpful. His office is clean and tidy. Ample parking.

My first and last office visit as a new patient of Dr. Donovan demonstrated how completely unprofessional he conducted himself. He rushed through a standard list of medical assessment questions with no regard to my severe hearing disability. I politely asked twice, at the start of the office visit, to please slow down his very rapid speech pattern, and he refused. He refused to stop to answer my questions on two medication issues. He was unnecessarily hurried, rude, and actually reached out to physically "swat" my arm when I asked again a second time a medication question. He failed to read my medical history that was provided by his office staff 10 days earlier, so that he asked unnecessary questions regarding immunizations and dates of vaccinations. He hurriedly read off the list of assessment questions and did not even look at me, starring the whole time at the standardized list instead. All doctors and nurses are trained to observe the patient, and to watch and listen carefully to… the verbal and non-verbal reactions to questions; all he did was stare at the printed assessment questionnaire list. He made no effort to make sure the new patient signed off on medical release forms or get connected to the office electronic patient portal system. Never in my life have I ever been treated like this by anyone in the medical field. Definitely would have failed his medical boards had he shown this type of unprofessional behavior. I immediately switched to a new medical group.

The other Docs in this practice are nicer. He was their on call doctor, and acting like I was bothering him.

Does not listen. When I had abdomen pain only checked my lungs not a hands on. As a patient felt he was only trying to meet his required numbers for patients seen in a day.

Poor communication skills. Doesn't make eye contact. Any questions are answered with a rant. Rabid.
