Dr. Brian Byrne Guarnotta, MD

I brought my one year old in because he has had diarrhea and intermittent vomiting for over three weeks. He spoke over me - continued to tell me to just push fluids - insisted I should "wait it out" and when I told him recommendations from the last NP I had seen at the practice his response was "Well shes not a doctor, I am!". I demanded blood work and labs - which came back indicative of infection. I have never in my life been so enraged with the lack of care and concern than with this doctor - or the practice as a whole. Switching to Newton/Wellesley as I write this. Horrible doctor... if I could do zero stars, I would.

I have asked many questions and i always feel as though hes giving the same advice he would use for his own children. Thats exactly what I want an articulate Dr that gives advice you can trust. Very good experiences with him.

How he is a Doctor In Pediatrics blows my mind. This man has absolutely no personality he is rude and both of my boys refuse to see him. No wonder he always has availability and is always accepting new patients. Stay away and do not bring your children to him don’t waste your time and find yourself a different doctor.

Rude and unprofessional. I went in for my daughter’s rash extremely concerned and tired after delivering my newborn recently. Instead of professional medical advice I was berated for not taking care of her and judged. That was the last thing I needed. Perhaps if more questions were asked about home life he’d realize she’d been peeing because of the emotional upheaval from having a new sibling and NOT child neglect. The most unprofessional doctor jI’ve ever seen.

The very best my four children have seen Dr. Guarnotta since they were toddlers now in there late teens we have always had the best care.

Not a dr I would recommend my child who is almost 6 has been so sick this entire winter and has had constant high fevers. I don’t typically bring my five year old to the dr, in fact he has never been on any antibiotics. So when I did bring him in it’s because I felt it was serious. I felt he did not listen to me and put words in my mouth. I would not recommend he was so rude and didn’t answer any of my questions.

This doctor is rude and doesn't care at all. He is constantly questioning the nurses and others doctor decisions which makes me feel like they don't know what they are doing. He got irritated when I ask about my baby test results after I received a two calls from a nurse being concerned. Please don't go to this doctor.

Dr. Guarnotta is a great doctor and we really trust his intellect and care. He brings a holistic and integrative approach to his practice which makes such a difference - everything from how he spends his time with you; the way he really listens to your concerns & answers questions, to how carefully he prescribes treatments. He doesn't just automatically prescribe an antibiotic and shuffle you out of the office - he really researches the symptoms, carefully make his diagnosis, & will work with you to develop treatment plans. If you're unsure of the side effects of certain meds he's willing to take the time to more fully research them. If he doesn't know something -because really how could anyone know everything; most just give an attitude & dismiss you - he tracks down the research & calls you back immediately to discuss. I cannot stress how incredible it is to find a doctor like that. To add to the ease in which you can speak to him, he avoids using esoteric medical jargon and instead… talks to you like a "real" person. He was instrumental in helping us get our son's asthma under control - it's one of his areas of expertise and we recommend him to others ESP for asthma related issues. He's an all-around terrific doctor and would highly recommend.

My 4 children are all patients of Dr Guarnottas so I have been to him probably a hundred times and don't have a single complaint. He never rushes you and never makes you feel like any question is stupid. He is very thorough and follows up on any issues. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for an appt and unlike some other drs you don't end up in an exam room waiting for him-he comes in minutes after the nurse has left. i would recommend him to anyone looking for a great pediatrician on the south shore!
