Dr. Brian Scot Kahan, DO

Dr. Kahan and Kim Fern have been amazing for the past five years in keeping my pain under control and my live liveable. They are diligent in checking for differences in care and needs from appointment to appointment, willing to make adjustments when necessary, and think outside the box when it comes to managing my pain in conjunction with a rare chronic illness that I also deal with that can make medicines more tricky. They are also very fast at seeing me which is amazing as often it can be difficult for me to be up and out of the house. Their willingness to work with me and never show frustration with it is such a stark contrast to my former pain mgmt doc it’s like night and day. The office is very good at getting paperwork through and advocating for you. I’ve never felt that I’ve had to wait an unreasonable amount of time that wasn’t them working on my behalf as well as other patients as well. When my insurance company has been difficult they have fit me in to prescribe short… courses of something covered but less than ideal so that I would not have concerns of not having no medication due to my insurance company deciding that I can take medication I’m allergic to for the 5th time. Overall I feel like I am in very good hands with the whole staff from top to bottom. For those who complain about looking down to complete paperwork...it is much faster to complete it on your own computer at home prior to your appointment, then they can see you faster as well!

Dr. Kahan was not only super professional but took the time to listen and reduce my pain in an old injury. The office was on time and he was very empathetic. I would reccomend his practice to anyone.

I’m sure he’s probably a smart man, but pain management is the wrong business for this man to be in - anyone, and I mean anyone, who has suffered from chronic pain and has a dose of empathy knows this: 1. How about you don’t play caustic music while I’m on hold w your staff, which is often. 2. How about you don’t ask me to fill out more and more paperwork when you know anyone w neck pain can’t hang their head down. Come up w a better system if pain mgmt is your thing. Or at least pretend to get it. And lower your voice and energy level some, ask your staff to as well. People in pain are seeking peace and ease. 3. How about you get a nurse to take notes if you can’t wait to dictate them after the apt. Taking notes in real time during the exam while sitting at a desktop is a bit like a freaking therapist doing that. Come on! You know better. 4. Don’t ever question someone for getting a second opinion. Applaud them for being diligent about their care. 5. And, lastly, how about… you don’t cancel my apt so you can go surf at assateauge. World is too small for you to get away with that ..... 6. Sure, I’d give you a bad review just because of number 5, but that’s really not it. Biggest reason - you put me on lyrica and sent me on my way. It helped. But you never seem to really be able to empathize or be respectful of us, me and other patients who saw you and stopped. Just focus. Cut out the staff comraderie. Be a little more serious. Take a little more valuable time with those entrust their pain in your care.

I was incredibly impressed with the amount of time that Dr. Kahan spent with me trying to get to the root of my debilitating pain. I was treated with kindness, professionalism and respect. I saw a few of the reviews and it's too bad that all too often people only choose to report the rare negative experience versus, I'm sure the many tons of positive experiences. Dr. Kahan is by far the best diagnostician and pain physician around. He has multiple board certifications and I have referred many friends to him for various ailments...They all love him!

This man didn't even look at my chart , when he came in the room he was too busy laughing with staff to even close the door. Now I'm getting a bill for a procedure that says I was there for 30 minutes, when I only spent 5 mins with that man. Do not waste you're time with this person. Our time is more precious than his and his unprofessional staff.
