Dr. Brian Joseph Korte, MD

Dr. Brian Korte is an excellent doctor, he treats you like family and he truly cares about his patients.I would refer him to all my family and friends, or any one that needs a doctor.

Dr. Korte is straight up --he answers all your questions--tells you what the problems is and options--he is sensitive to your health and emotional needs and makes sure you always have the best care possible in his office or the hospital.

My info: I am a female in my late 30's. I have been seeing Dr. Korte for at least 10+ years if not longer. He listens and responds appropriately: I had been to MANY doctors for all sorts of medical concerns that run the gamut, but not one of them was willing to sit down and TALK to me. Dr. Korte will explain things in great detail and allows me to ask questions of him; I NEVER get a feeling like I am being rushed. Dr. Korte is the ONLY doctor that correctly diagnosed my Metabolic Syndrome/Syndrome X and Stein Leventhal Syndrome - one of which my gynecologist should have diagnosed as it is a female issue and affected my fertility! I had been to several doctors over the years that just said, "You need to lose weight" and generally treated me like I was making my symptoms up. I have never had a problem with him changing prescriptions if I needed. More times than not, he is the one suggesting a change or alternative if a treatment is not working to my satisfaction (sleep… medicine dose, etc.) Dr. Korte has several times recommended books, has given me print outs on my particular issues, or has actually shown me exercises that can alleviate issues. He goes above and beyond the norm, and believe me I have been to MANY doctors! Professionalism/Bedside Manner: Dr. Korte is always professional. I could care less whether he wears jeans to the office (as stated in a review above); it seems that only the older patients that are not use to how things have changed in the work place are concerned with such things. His appearance is always neat and professional - jeans or not (btw, I have been there many times when he is wearing khakis or some other dress-like pant.) He is a straight-forward person and will provide you with plenty of facts. Dr. Korte is always willing to listen and always willing to explain things in great detail! Sometimes he doesn't look directly at you when talking, but by the shear amount of information he is giving, I always chalk it up as him thinking as he is talking. It never comes off as being rude. He really does have a wealth of knowledge about just about everything under the sun, and he likes to share it and share about the research he is doing. I really like that this is a doctor that not only is doing his day to day duties, but in his spare time is actually researching and studying and enjoying still learning about his field. He knows his stuff and is active in keeping up to date on the latest and greatest and researching to see if it is beneficial for his patients. It is rare to find a doctor who wants to take the time to educate his patients. Office Staff: The nurses are always super friendly. The front desk staff can be "cold" at times. The wait time is never extremely long, but is typical of doctor offices. Sometimes I am seen almost immediately, sometimes I have to wait. I don't think in all my time going there that I have ever had to wait more than 30 minutes in the front. Of course sometimes I have to wait a little bit in the back for the doctor, but it never seems real long. I'd rather wait and get a doctor that will sit and talk to me at my appointment than to wait forever and then get a doctor that rushes me. ;) Making appointments has never been a problem. The waiting area up front is clean and inviting... none of the fluorescent lighting or cold feel you get from other doctor offices. The seats are comfortable and the decorations are always nice. There is a TV in the waiting area and it looks more like a living room than a doctor office. I like that feeling. Now, once you get into the back area for the actual appointment, it looks and feels like a doctor office - which I like. It always seems moderately clean, and the staff seems to be mindful of keeping things sterile and clean. Additional: Dr Korte has been instrumental in helping me with many health issues: weight loss surgery program, physicals for foster care requirements, infertility, sleep issues, etc... He is very knowledgeable about many areas and will not hesitate to refer you to a specialist if needed.

I am a 60+ Patient of Dr. Korte and he has been our family Doctor for long enough to make this review fairly well informed. Brian is a genuinely nice person, which we think is very important. He is always willing to spend a good amount of time with us on most of our visits. Some of the areas that need improving are as follows. OFFICE STAFF: Although very friendly, and always seem to know and remember us, politics should be kept out of an office visit. Assumptions of our political affiliation and our like or dislike of our President and his policies can leave a bad impression when they are incorrect. We happen to think Universal healthcare reform is a good thing, and pre election statements like "We will get him out of there next month." give a unprofessional and bias reflection of the whole office. DR. KORTE: Brian spends a good and fair amount of time with patients, but not always is he listening. Always when he enters the room he has to go to his computer to "reboot"… before he seems to remember Us. Then, after he knows what is happening with us (he has reason to remember us both) he spend a good portion of our time entering information into the computer. He performs the same ROM examination, in despite of the fact that he has been told that what he is doing is NOT stressing the joints in question. We have become MUCH less active during our time with him. When we shared our minor gains in our exercise routine, it was met with NO encouragement at all, instead a "no enough, do more" was all we got. Dr. Korte often fails to hear our request for a change of meds. or other approaches. Even when taking a list to our appointments, it seems that our concerns are dismissed, and he seems to want to prove we are getting better, rather then change course, or explain more. He won't hear of any sort of failure. He always seems to be wearing the same attire: dirty sneakers, jeans, and the SAME shirt. Apparel needs to appear clean and neat at the very least. No suit required at all. OTHER Physicians at Family Practice of Plant City, Fl: We have had experience with 2 others Dr. Ford, and one other we are not sure of his name. Both we really good experiences. We approached Dr. Ford with switching to his patients, but we were told "we don't do that" Apparently this would upset the other Physician's feelings. It seemed to come down to the patients wishes vs the feelings of the doctor. A bad choice to make. We truly hope this review will help improve care of patients, and we are NOT changing offices YET. We want to remain at Family Practice of Plant City, it is convenient to our home, and hospital and we feel invested in it now. Lets hope this helps rather then hurts.

He needs to learn to talk to his patients not talk down to them!!!

Dr. Korte genuinely concerns himself with your overall health. I am a 60 year old male and have had multiple health issues which he has helped me manage much to my satisfaction over the past 11 years. He is accurate and very thorough and is backed up with a staff that always acts professionally and expeditiously. I highly recommend Dr. Korte.

He is an excellent physician, very caring, takes time to listen to your problem for appropriate testing or other treatment for an accurate diagnosis.
