Dr. Brian Patrick Mckinley, MD

First visit seemed to go well, then after that didn’t. Was not as personable and acted bothered by me, even by my questions. I was nervous the day of surgery and him acting this way made it worse. I know doctors have a busy schedule and they’re very stressed, but please don’t forget about compassion. I don’t know if he or a family member has gone through this before, but remember you can be on the other side one day. My postoperative visit he didn’t even examine me. I asked a question about it and he stood at least three feet away from me to look at the site. I don’t know if I offended him at some point, but if I did I apologize. I feel like he is a knowledgeable doctor, but just remember the word compassion.

Dr. M doesn't have a good bedside manner. More importantly, he treats rare cancers with a hands off attitude. If my husband and I would have followed his recommendations, he would be dead. At the very least, he could have referred us to a specialist. He seemed to proud or unwilling to do so.

Follow-up for my bilateral mastectomy was lacking. I was seen by Dr. McKinley 7 days after my surgery and was told after that to follow-up with my oncologist. My one request was not to spend the rest of my life lopsided but, alas, too much tissue was left on one side, and too much was removed on the other. The plastic surgeon says this can be easily corrected but, quite frankly, I can't afford any more medical bills at this point in my life. However, if this is so easily corrected, why was it left in the first place?

Performed colon surgery on myself and did a wonderful job.

Dr. McKinley is a wonderfully caring doctor. He gave us calls personally and was very empathetic and caring in his delivery. He helped us through a very difficult and scarey time. Always offered himself for any questions at any time. His assistant Hope is equally as wonderful.
