Dr. Brian P Thornton

After a bilateral mastectomy, I chose Dr Thornton to perform reconstruction (tissue expander placement at time of NSM mastectomy followed by silicone implants 4 months after). I'm nearing the end of that process and looking back, think that Dr Thornton and Cathy make an ideal team. He is very up to date on latest and optimal (for me) reconstruction techniques, answers questions knowledgeably. And I cannot say enough good things about Cathy, who listened carefully, empathetically and quickly answered any questions I had as soon as I contacted her. She is a gem. She said she would "get me through it"--and she did. The office staff is very pleasant and I seldom had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. I am grateful for all they did!!

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2005. I started my reconstruction after my double mastectomy. I had many ups and downs ranging from defective implants to infections that caused me to stop my reconstruction treatments. I moved to Louisville and after discussions with my new PCP she wanted me to be examined by a surgeon that specialized in breast cancer. I did and he was great but since I had had a double mastectomy that went completely down to my chest muscle and blood tests showed no cancer cells he was confident that all was well except that he was concerned about the implants that I currently had. He referred me to Dr. Thornton and his team. At first I was discouraged with his office because my appointments kept getting rescheduled (3 times) and the day that I finally got to meet him he was running an hour and a half behind. I almost gave up on them but then I met him and Cathy and was ever so glad that I didn't give up. My adventure with them took a year and it also… had a few minor downers but in the end I got what I wanted and needed. Dr Thornton, Cathy, Liz and Marybeth were there for me every step of the way. I am so ever grateful!!!!!!!!

Many thanks to Dr. Thornton for his honesty, for being the best plastic surgeon in Louisville and a great human being, also thanks to Kathy, Liz and the entire team for their warmth. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of 2018 after chemotherapy, radiation and masectomy treatment, Dr. Thornton had my breast reconstruction done. As he told me from the beginning it was going to be a process that would require patience and several surgeries in my case but it was worth the wait. I recommend Dr. Thornton and his team because they are a guarantee of success and excellent results.

I have been working with Dr.Thornton, Liz, and Kathy, who are perfect in every way imaginable! This group of the very professional medical team, deserve to be praised at the highest level. They are highly experienced, intelligent, kind, always considerate of my emotions. I had a double mastectomy due to cancer, and they have been responsible for restoring my confidence and overall well being. Their ability and caring nature during the reconstruction, has been phenomenal. Dr. Thornton and Liz are the best in all aspects of the surgical procedure. I will recommend them to everyone I know!

Dr. Thornton and his support team, specifically Cathy Hamilton, CARED for me through all of my surgeries that were a result of my breast cancer diagnosis. They always made me feel as though I was their only patient that day, never rushed and always available. I have a high regard for their expertise but the sincerity of the care is what made all of the difference.
