Boliek Bruce S MD Ophthalmologist North Hills Terrible experience with Dr. Boliek. He seemed cordial at my first visit. Second visit was for removal of stye. He attempted to numb my eye three times. Advised my eye was turning bruised/ blue. He advised it must be the blood thinners I take. I do not take blood thinners. This occurred at 4:45 p.m. on a Monday afternoon. I left the facility with zero instructions on his behalf. He literally stopped the procedure because I was in pain and walked out of the room. No instructions, no mention of follow-up care. By the time I walked to the receptionist, she asked what was wrong with my eye, that it was black and blue. Drove home with vision gone out of one eye. Could not see out of other eye for over three days! Called after hours number the same evening he attempted surgery, was advised there is a $50.00 after hour fee or go to emergency room...great patient care...NOT. Without checking on my status he advised my employer that I… had no lingering issues and no restrictions, which ended sick days ! He never saw me or spoke to me after his failed attempt to remove the stye. How could he provide an accurate update on my medical situation??? First picture is within 10 minutes of leaving his office, second one is three days later. I had to seek emergency help from another Doctor with another facility. Dr Boliek has friendly staff, I unfortunately had a horrible experience with him. His lack of concern was I think the most alarming issue and causing my income for sick days to cease based on no knowledge of what I was still dealing with...simply inexcusable. FWIW, Parking is a complete nightmare at his office, be prepared to arrive 45 minutes to an hour prior to your appointment to locate a parking slot.

I've been a patient of Dr. Boliek for many years and have recommended him to many friends who have since thanked me for the recommendation. He and his staff have always been very professional and shown me personal attention with every visit. At times Dr. Boliek has gone well out of the way to accommodate me.... I called the after-hours number one Saturday morning with symptoms of a retina problem. He did not want me to wait until Monday and met me at the office and hour later. He diagnosed a tear in my retina and arranged to get me to a retina specialist that afternoon. I was in surgery Monday morning. If Dr. Boliek hadn't seen me Saturday, I may have lost vision in my eye. Thank you Bruce!

Dr. Boliek is very thorough in exam and educating to eye health and treatment options. Courteous and helpful office staff.

I've been twice now, to this practice. My condition looks like several others, so I'll cut him some slack about a diagnosis. I was seen promptly, and treated courteously on both occasions. One of my 2 visits was with no appointment, and I still got in promptly. The staff was friendly and helpful. Dr Boliek spent ample time with me, explaining, and answering questions. Now, back to my second sentence... I'm still not sure the diagnosis was 100% accurate, but the meds called for, are the same for any of my possible afflictions. I never liked star ratings, but this one says 3 equals Good. That's why I gave a 3 star rating. I'm not sure any doc could earn a 5 star rating from me. That would require being a perfect doc... I haven't met that person yet.

As a patient I paid for my face time with a doctor and he was too "busy" to make an accurate diagnosis. He just became flippent and started walking out of the room while I was still questioning why the prescription wasn't working. I saw another physician who diagnosed an epiretinal membrane, which required retinal surgery. Dr. Boliek never noticed. The whole practice is a sausage factory, with rude technicians. They put the bill in your mouth and point you to the cashier. Never again. There are too many outstanding doctors in Raleigh to tolerate this kind of place.
