Dr. Bruce Michael Kalow, MD

I am a primary care physician at Somerville Pediatrics, which is part of the CHA Broadway Medical Center in Somerville.

I chose pediatrics as a specialty because I feel that caring for children is the most important part of medicine. They are our future.

I enjoy working with children because of the continuity – knowing many families so many years that I am taking care of the children of my first patients. Children are usually healthy, illnesses self limited, so there is little tragedy in my work. I also care for many families that have children with special needs – mothers with substance abuse issues, many from the New Day program in Somerville.

As part of my work over the years I have been involved in many system-wide improvement projects, including working with our electronic health record. Over the last year, I have been the physician leader for our patient centered medical home pilot project, an innovative care model for our primary care sites.

Outside of work I am an avid …cyclist, and I also enjoy running. I am a photographer as well. I have enjoyed building computers, and give many to my needy patients.
