Dr. Bruce Edward Lewis, MD

For his outlook/philosophy on treating his patients Dr. Lewis wrote: "I not only treat my patients, but get to know them personally. I enjoy discovering new facts about my patients." Sounds great. My PCP referred me to Dr. Lewis for some additional testing after an abnormal stress test result. After waiting months (yes, months) for a visit he recommended an angiogram. It was scheduled and performed. Throughout this whole event I found this doctor to be quite aloof and my whole experience during this procedure was cold and impersonal. The preparation for the angiogram was standard and efficient, but once I was transported to the OR I felt more like a specimen than a patient; I was just some blob on a slab, a product. He didn’t even look me in the eye. It felt like fast-food medicine, just the next one on the conveyer belt. Add in the fact that you are, or course, naked and the whole thing was almost humiliating. I am not embellishing here; it was not comfortable at all. After… the procedure I had to request that he come speak to me about the test results. He didn’t come to me; I had to ask for him. I overheard the nurse telling him I wanted to speak to him; his reply was “Who’s that?”. He had literally just worked on me not 20 minutes before. I had to request his presence and he didn’t even know my name. Now, I’m not royalty, am not hypersensitive and I don’t expect the red carpet to be rolled out for me, but really? You don’t even know my name? You just operated on me! I guess I was privileged to get an audience with him. How fortunate for me. I don’t know if this guy’s supposed to be some kind of rock star cardiologist or what, but this entire interaction has left a bitter taste. I won’t be going back to him; I don’t need the embarrassment. I’ll find another heart doctor – one who would look me in the eye and actually remember my name. I’m giving a general rating of 2 stars because some of the staff were pleasant... and because I didn’t die.

I will say that in the last 11 months I've gone through some pretty heavy duty medical treatment! My wife and I recently have brought dr. Lewis on to help us with my heart disease. We would like to thank him for the way he has treated us throughout this whole process. Thank you! This is a doctor that knows what he is doing and I would recommend him to anybody that asks!

Life Saving, kind, caring and compassionate

I went out of network to see Dr. Lewis. My previous doctors said I needed bypass surgery. Dr. Lewis was able to reach the blockages and stent them. No need for bypass and I am doing well.
