Dr. Helsel is an amazing cardio thoracic surgeon and a wonderful person! He recently performed triple bypass surgery on my husband and we have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Helsel. He is very professional, knowledgeable, caring, kind, compassionate and attentive to my husband’s care from pre surgery office visits, surgery and post op care. If you’re in need of a cardio thoracic surgeon “run, don’t walk” to see Dr. Helsel!

While in jcmc Helsel came by my room 2 times one of which he spoke to me thru a crack in the door. My insurance was billed for at least 6 visits to my room. Not the dr for me!

I have nothing but praise to say about this physician he performed open heart surgery on my dad and has followed up and returned calls promptly . He is very knowledgeable bedside manners are 5 star as well . Thank you Dr Helsel for being compassionate your the best !!!!

Dr Helsel performed my surgery taking out my left lower lobe, which was all I thought he was going to do, and while under anesthesia they took out 4-5 polyps in my throat which has now left me with a paralyzed left vocal cord leaving me barely even to speak! Now, besides Chemotherapy, I’ll have to undergo More treatments in order to fix This problem which should never have occurred in the 1st place.

Scared is not the word I would use when I was told I had to have a triple bypass. I felt like I needed to make some final plans but then I me Dr. B. Helsel for the first time. He was sent to me by Cardo doctor. Best bed side manner of any doctor I have had. He is straight forward but can laugh about it with me. One of the things I respected about him is HE called me about a test result. He called not an assistant. That's a first. He cared about the results to deliver them to me. When a doctor feels comfortable to hug a patient you know he is truly caring.

Dr Helsel wonderful man of God excellent. Bedside manor my husband is in Bristol now n a Respitory rehab however he made a traumatic event doable many thanks Dr Helsel. Compassionate caring most pleasant man thank you for everything U did to make our. Life changing surgery. Understandable God bless you

He is extremely uncaring and rude. My mother is hard of hearing, has dementia, was in in extreme pain. When she questioned a drug's interaction with another drug, he argued then threatened to call police and make her leave. He told us to find another surgeon, which he isn't her surgeon, only in the same group. RUN from this unprofessional buffoon.

Dr. Helsel and his surgical team performed Full Thoracotomy on my rt. Lung. I was seen by he and his staff every day of my 2 week stay at the Audy Murphy VA Med. Ctr. I received the best Of treatment and care...Just the Best!
