Dr. Bryce Gibbs, MD

My husband and I began seeing Dr. Gibbs a year ago. I am a therapist myself and was referred to Dr. Gibbs from several friends who saw him for therapy. I was going on this site to provide Dr. Gibbs a review when I came across a very surprising 1 star review. I felt compelled to respond. I sought counseling with Bryce Gibbs because my husband and I were having marital issues that were beginning to affect our dynamics with our kids. In the year we have worked with Dr. Gibbs, my husband and I have made great gains in our relationship, especially in regard to communication. Also, our kids have participated in the therapy and love talking to Dr. Gibbs. He has truly been a blessing to our family. In the review another client provided, they almost seem to be blaming Dr. Gibbs for their divorce and the problems in their family. As I therapist myself, I am familiar with being blamed at times. When people, and couples, enter therapy, they are often undergoing the worst times in their… lives. Worse, at times, marital counseling sometimes leads to divorce as opposed to reconciliation. This is not the outcome any therapist wants. However, sometimes therapy uncovers issues that are genuinely irreconcilable. When this happens, one or both parties can be devastated and enraged. Sometimes, this rage is taken out on the therapist and the therapist can be blamed for the relationship not working out. I have to believe that this could be the case with this other reviewer. Again, Dr. Gibbs has a great reputation in town and I know others who have worked with him, both on personal and professional levels. In my experience, no person, or therapist, is all good or all bad. I have found that scathing "1 star" reviews that come across as character assassination often say more about the person "reviewing" versus the person being reviewed. Dr. Gibbs saved my marriage and greatly helped my family. Thank you Dr. Gibbs!
