Dr. Budd Norman Shenkin, MD

Budd Shenkins would not allow me in the room for my son's circumcision. He told me that I could not come in and gave a bogus explanation for this reason. He knew that we had waited for over a month for the appointment. Dr.Budd Shenkins had a female intern he was training that day and to my understanding he allowed her to do the circumcision without my consent. After checking the wound of my baby, I could tell that the procedure was botched. I am still very upset that this happened to me as a mother and to my baby. It is also worth mentioning that during that visit Dr.Shenkins ranted about how he thought that black people were more susceptible to contracting AIDS if not circumcised. The unwarranted mentioning of his racist belief just before taking my child exam room with his intern disturbs me to this day. This incident took place some years ago, but It still feels like something happened during that appointment that should not have. I am curious if any other woman of color… have had similar experience.
