Dr. Carl James Spivak, MD

I went to Dr. Spivak for an excruciating pain in my lower back. This has been with me for a decade but has gotten worse every year to the point of severe pain affecting even basic functioning like walking. After viewing MRIs he recommended ablations to my sacroiliac joint and facet joints( which had brought relief in the past to a medium degree). Both were done but we're relatively unaffective. I'd say the least effective I've experienced. I know he's a neurosurgeon MD that does surgeries and I said " where do we go from here". This is where I believe he was uncaring. He crudely said " I'm not a magician and there's nothing that can be done" . After my surprise and astonishment I then said , "so what am I to do, live the rest of my life in terrible pain " and his answer was simply "yes". He said go back to your pain management Dr. and maybe he can help with the pain. Fast forward to my pain management doctors recommendation of an specific orthopedic surgeon. After this surgeon said… it would be tricky but I can help 6 months and 2 surgeries later I'm feeling like a different person. Still some residual pain from the last surgery but the pain that I lived with for years is nearly gone. Please go to a Surgeon who cares and doesn't just blow you off. I have zero respect for Dr. Spivak. His skill and his bedside manner is lacking terribly.

Wonderful and kind doctor. Dr. Spivek took the time to explain my MRI results of my spine and went over his best plan of action of a positive treatment plan for trying a Cortisone Injection to help alleviate the nerve pain associated with my thoracic bulging disc herniations. Thank you for your kind,ncaring,and informative care for my back/spine and I appreciate it very much.

I was suffering from severe left leg sciatica. The pain was so intense I could not stand or sit. Dr. Spivak performed a spinal injection procedure on me and got me back on my feet again immediately. The procedure took no longer than 20 minutes and I walked out of his office a new man. He is an outstanding professional and I would highly recommend him and his practice to anyone.

Dr. Spivak and his staff are caring, skilled, and professional, giving you their utmost to to resolve your spinal issues. I had had an epidural about 10 years ago from another spinal surgeon, and he chose to do it without anesthesia. Dr Spivak said it would be no problem to give me the anesthesia to get through the epidural, and I do not remember any of it, yet came out of it very talkative and energetic! Getting an appointment to see him is never a problem either, they are very accommodating. This is just the beginning of my journey to fix the serious curvature and arthritic issues that I have, but I have confidence that Dr. Spivak will make it all right.

I didn't know what pain was until I suffered a compression fracture. Once the xray confirmed it Dr Spivak was brought in. I had Kyphoplasty and am a walking talking believer! Smiling and attentive are the best descriptions I can give for the Dr, but his magic lies in my lack of pain after only a week since my injury and days since my procedure. THANK You!

I broke my disc and he gave me a procedure to fix it. It helped a lot.

Was told I needed surgery by another Dr. Dr Spivak gave me a few injections and they have been helping. Happy to hold off on the surgery for now. Thanks
