Dr. Carlos Alemany, MD

Disappointed in Dr. Alemany’s Care Approach and Communication I’m writing this as someone who was granted permission to speak on behalf of one of Dr. Alemany’s patients. My observations are based on direct involvement and close communication with the patient throughout her treatment. Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Alemany has been extremely disappointing. His bedside manner was cold and discouraging — most notably when he told the patient she would not live long enough to raise a child. That kind of statement is not only unprofessional but devastating to someone in the middle of a life-threatening fight. When he went on vacation, there was no alternate doctor assigned to manage the care of his critical patients. For someone undergoing cancer treatment, timely access to care is crucial. The lack of contingency planning left the patient without medical guidance during a critical time. Dr. Alemany’s treatment approach appears to be limited to the traditional “poison, burn, and… cut” methods (chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery). He offered no strategies for reducing the risk of recurrence and showed no interest in proven complementary therapies that could improve long-term outcomes or quality of life. Additionally, if you're not a medical professional yourself, Dr. Alemany seems unwilling to engage in meaningful discussion. I was met with dismissiveness instead of collaboration, even though I was acting under patient approval. Cancer care should be holistic, responsive, and human. Dr Carlos Alemany, a hematologist, oncologist specializing in Breast Cancer and research has been my physician since Dr Lukman retired. Both are excellent. I’ve been going to his office for a couple of years. He’s an excellent physician, very knowledgeable, amicable and explains to patient and family in a compassionate, and easy way to understand. He first started monitoring my anticoagulant, Coumadin, checking my levels of INR, making sure my blood was not too thick or thin, preventing a clot or a hemorrhage. I had a pulmonary embolism in 2003 and have Factor II, V, and homozygous MTFHR gene mutations that predispose me to blood clots. He is the best hematologist. Now I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and he’s the best oncologist, knowledgeable, and compassionate. His office staff is very pleasant and helpful. Vanessa Sepulveda, his nurse coordinator and Samantha, his nurse navigator are knowledgeable, compassionate, helpful. Both are excellent. Janet Montero is very helpful and… pleasant. Also the man that answers the phone and the nurse that takes care of faxes, FMLA, etc are very helpful and amicable. Sorry I forgot their names. Dr. Alemany Is also very thorough and cares about your whole health, all your medical conditions. Dr. Alemany is the best! Thank you Dr. Alemany and staff.

Dr Alemany is very patience, and informative great personality quite humble. Love the experience with him. He reassured me throughout my whole experience with my surgery.

He came through and did the right thing when one of his associates was unable to help, love this guy..forever thankful to him and his NP! I never saw him in the office..only as inpatient...so can't comment on the office wait time.

I believe he is has excellent diagnostic skills and he tells it the way it is. Spends time with you, very caring.

He saved my life. He is a brilliant doctor.

Very caring doctor, went beyond to ensure my mom was feeling as well as possible.

Wait time was excessive because of emergencies that came in.

He is absolutely amazing and really cares. You may have to wait a bit but its ok. He spends all the time you need with you, explains things throughly and does not rush. My visit with him was extraordinary!

After Nine years of fighting this disease with so many doctors, I think we finally found our "Angel"
