Dr. Carlos Alberto Taboada, MD

The term “gifted” is too often bestowed on high performing doctors, but that is NOT the case with Carlos Taboada. A radiologist once proclaimed to me that a fellow MD surgeon, a time-tested role model, “should never be allowed to retire.” This phrase more aptly describes Dr Taboada in the field Oncology. My young daughter was diagnosed with a highly aggressive, very treatment-resistant Stage 4 cancer. Death was expected within two-three months. She has now survived over 10+ months due to Dr. Taboada unrelented efforts. It was not just the analytically creative approaches that instilled confidence in my daughter in fighting the cancer, but his compassion and willingness to go to bat for my daughter at every turn…no exceptions. Hope and faith were always the mantra. A doctor from a Nationally renown cancer medical center reviewed his treatments in considering our daughter for available/anticipated clinical trials and stated he’s done “everything” we would have done, “and more.” During… this ordeal, the superb cancer nursing staff at Medical City Plano expressed nothing but admiration, earned trust and reverence for his extraordinary human touch and thoroughness. One highly-experienced nurse stated he is the very rare MD that operates solely from humility… “he is actually humbled by his opportunities to serve his patients…in his mind it is his duty, his calling.”
