Dr. Carmen Cawley, MD

Dr. Cawley is the most dedicated and caring doctor I have ever been to within my lifetime. I’ve had exceptional doctors in the past, but she surpasses my expectations with every visit. She truly takes the time to listen to my health concerns and doesn’t try to just put a band-aid on it. She offers numerous suggestions and shares her extensive medical knowledge all without making me feel rushed or forgetful that I might fail to mention a concern. She pours her heart into her profession and it shows. Her bedside manner is unheard of in this day and time, and I find that so refreshing. She may offer up her knowlegde on dietary needs but has NEVER forced her recommendations on me. I appreciate and value her professional opinion. I respect her. My husband has been a patient of hers for years and he, too, would never consider going elsewhere. If you’ve been “fired”, then I’d have to say you did something heinous to get yourself in that mess.

Dr. Cawley is the WORST physician I've ever been to. I only went to see her one time. "Tried" to explain about my med not working & she through a fit & stated, VERBATIM: "you're not going to put me in a box!" WHY would she say that?! Weirdest thing ever that I've heard a doctor say. To me, it seems like she's political w/ her patients. Very obvious if you compare the political climate we are in now, unfortunately, (some) physicians are judging & stereotyping patients, just as Dr. Cawley seemed to do w/ me. Then, she never returned my lab copies that I gave her to review. Instead, I received a letter saying she fired me, after just ONE visit to her office & after I called about the lab copies asking her to return them to me. She retaliates against patients if they don't bow down to her, in my opinion. She also is more interested in holistic/certain extreme diet type of treatments, instead of treating your condition(s) from a "medical" standpoint. They also made a followup appt & labs… for me, but instead they sent a letter to me badically saying forget it & to never come back. I honestly believe it's due to retaliation, politics & because she "may" have lost/misplaced my labs. I don't know, but one thing I do know is she's the worst phtsician I've EVER been to & I'm over 50 y/o. I definitely would NOT recommend her!

I have been seeing Dr. Cawley for many years over three different offices. I wouldn't trust my health care to anyone else. Sometimes her nursing staff don't respond to phone calls, but I think so highly of Dr. Cawley I am willing to overlook that.

Dr.Cawley is compassionate and humble.These traits are disappearing from the medical profession.

Great doctor and an excellant staff

Dr. Cawley is one of the best MDs Ive ever been to after meeting her for the first time at another practice I decided to follow her to her new beginning when she decided to open her own practice to be able to take the time with each and every patient was a crucial thing for her as in other office she was only alloted very little time with each one of us, she is very compassionate takes her time to explain all diagnosis. I highly recommend her to anyone and her staff is exceptional the receptionist is such a blessing and so sweet.

My last appointment with Dr. Cawley I wanted a basic check up and physical. When I made the appointment and they set up a lab work appointment I verified it was COVERED and part of the physical. I did not want anything additional, just my year check up. I went, got my lab work and had my apappointment. Come to find during my appointment out that they decided to run A TON of tests on my bloodwork (allergy test, gene test, and more) without my consent. A year later and I am still in this mess. They also won't return the calls by me or my parents. Very unhappy with their service. And still do not wish to pay the hundreds of dollars for tests I did not want.

After reading the reviews on this site, I just had to make a comment of my own. Dr. Cawley, and she is one of the best doctors in San Antonio. She is very caring, very knowledgeable, and she spends more time with patients than 90% of other doctors. To the reviewer who said that she maliciously spends extra time and gives complex diagnoses to bill the insurance -- this is simply not true. It is true that Dr. Cawley may spend extra time with you, but it is because she cares deeply about making you healthy. Her heart is always in the right place, and though her style of practicing medicine may not be for everyone I encourage you to visit her. In my opinion she is a truly excellent physician.

This doctor has an ego problem. She wanted to treat all my health issues and told me her specialty was diabetes. She ran down my specialists and said they did not have my issues under control. After waiting 50 minutes to get in, she told me how great she was then asked me about my health. When I started telling her she interrupted and said, "cut it short, I don't have time for details" She said my CT scan showed I probably have cancer in the Uterine. She was wrong and should have never said that without proof. When my urologist requested copies of the lab results, she apparently got mad for me going back to him after she ran him down so bad and sent me a letter terminating our relationship. Fortunately, I had already made another appointment with another doctor. I have never encountered this type of behavior by a physician and personally thing if she lacks professionalism toward her fellow physicians.

She seems nice at first, then starts to ramble about things not relevant to the visit. She will not shut up, then bills the insurance company for all of the time spent rambling. Absolutely DO NOT rely on her diagnosis because she will tell you that there is something complicated and hard-to-treat wrong with you so that she can bill the insurance company more money. The doctor that I saw for a second opinion found that I had a simple sinus infection and treated it accordingly. I never write reviews, but I just had to write this one.
