Dr. Carol Proops Milam, MD

Said inappropriate and rude comments regarding my decision to have a third child. I hadn't even asked her opinion on that. Found a better provider in town. Won't be recommending her.

I began seeing Dr. Milam in Nov/Dec 2018. Having no previous experience with seeing a psychiatrist, I was apprehensive about the process to say the least. However, once meeting with her I found her to be engaging, understanding and respectful. She strives for her patients to be survivors of whatever affliction that hinders their emotional and physical well-being. To accomplish this she focuses on helping her patient win small victories throughout the course of treatment. Winning small victories is essential for many patients like me. A person cannot walk until they learn how to take a first step. But, they have to want to take the next step following the first. I have found it refreshing that Dr. Milam took the time needed to fully understand my daily struggles with CRPS and Rheumatoid Arthritis. She recognized the importance of focusing treatment towards me winning small victories in my daily struggles with my condition. She genuinely shares the disappointment and joy in both… victories lost and won. But, most importantly, she cares about the total resolve of the patient by building upon the small victories won. If the above describes the type of Doctor that you are looking for, I would highly recommend her.

I'm not sure what Doctor the orevious reviewer saw, but Dr. Milam has consistently treated me with nothing but respect and understanding. She is a phenomenal diagnostician who explores possibilities a lot of other doctors are unwilling to consider.

Took me in when dr draud got rid of all his patients( not sure why he did). She shows genuine interest in making a patient better. I think Dr. fraud got a little to big for the little folks. Wish him well and glad he dropped me. Thank you Dr. Milam for steering me to success.

I was referred to Dr. Milam by a trauma therapist who thought she was good. I was abused by a former counselor, then harmed by providers who refused to get involved so I need safety, competence and high ethics in a provider. Dr. Milam refused to understand this or talk with my therapists to understand it. I need an anti-depressant to deal with the depression from my PTSD while I undergo trauma therapy. Dr. Milam refused to let me discuss my PTSD, though it is my only diagnosis. She refused to let me speak in full sentences, interrupting me constantly. She dismissed verbally everything I said, though I spoke only of what competent and experienced professionals had said already about my condition and needs. I gave her more than adequate information to diagnose and treat me with the FDA approved meds for my condition, even giving her printed handouts. She demanded that I give her information that I could not because of legal matters, (my therapist told me not to tell her… those things and agreed that she did not need that information as it would cause bias). Dr. Milam is highly biased and seems to want to diagnose bipolar even though the symptomatology is clearly not present. I gave her the names to my 2 trauma therapists and she said she would talk to them to get needed information to provide me adequate care. She did not call 1 of them and only called the other to tell her she would not see me. She is arrogant, rude, disrespectful and not even competent to diagnose or treat. She cares about ethics only to make sure she doesn't get reported for how she treats her patients. I have the session recorded and I see many negative reviews matching my experience, so I speak to what I know.

She is uncaring and presumptuous. Do yourself a favor and find a different, qualified, doctor.

she does not care about her pateints. i think she has been jaded by the system. i do not doubt that she is very intelligent, just not caring,

Dr. Milam is warm, caring, and easy to talk to. She is extremely knowledgeable and able to "think outside the box" to tailor care and treatment to an individual's unique needs.

Whatever your issues are, she is wonderful -- she has an easy-going manner, is well-versed on medications, professional -- everything you would want in a doctor.
