Dr. Carol Lois Smith, MD

I truly like going to see her.

Being a counselor myself, I had pretty high expectations for a psychiatrist. Dr. Smith is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. Her questions are poignant. She's very honest but caring. Since seeing her for 5 years, I have grown as a person and my relationships are way more healthy. She's held my hand every step of the way and I care for her deeply.

Dr. Smith was not on my insurance, but helped me file my claims. She was caring, listened to me and guided me through one of the toughest times in my life. She is different from other Psychiatrists I have seen, has shown humanity and respect for me as a person, not just a patient with an illness. Her expertise and her efforts to coordinate with my other doctors, along with her caring made my decision to remain under her care easy. Filing the insurance was a minor inconvenience, and the cost was minimal and worth it.

Dr. Smith was not covered under my insurance, but was recommended by a family friend since she worked with a Prescription Medication/Mental Health. She was distant, aloof, and at times overbearing. Most psychiatrists I have seem have these qualities to some extent, but I wouldn't waste my time writing this review if I didn't think it was necessary. One time (our last appointment), she forgot to give me my scripts for monthly refills. She then tried to charge me $20 to come to her office and pick them up. It was her responsibility to monitor my medication. That about sums it up. ***This review is my personal experience only and may not be representative of her as a person, just as a doctor.
