Twenty years ago Dr. Vance diagnosed my grandson as autistic, then Landow Kleffner Syndrome, then retarded, then epileptic. She suggested he go to a special school. Well, he spent preschool there, and the teacher said he didn't need to be at that school. He continued his education in public school getting only RSP assistance. He exited that in 5th grade, spoke at his 8th grade promotion, graduated from high school, and just last week graduated from a university with honors, and a 3.75 GPA. I am very proud of him and the fact that he did not let her wrong diagnosis define him. We knew who he was all along. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. I rated one star only because there was not a choice for zero.

How this woman is allowed to continue practicing medicine is beyond me. She has misdiagnosed way too many children with the same thing, including my child. She said my son was having deep brain seizures and prescribed dangerous medications for it. We took him to Primary's in SLC for a second opinion and was told there is no such thing as "deep brain seizures" and the medicines she prescribed were not meant for children were extremely dangerous. She also has no bedside manor, talked to my husband and I like we were idiots and at the time she saw my son, she had a "therapy dog" with her. My son was at the time terrified of dogs and she refused to remove the dog until I threatened to walk out. I would NEVER EVER recommend her to anyone, even if she was the last Dr. on earth. BTW, testing done at Primary's should my son had never even had a seizure and still has never had one.

Staff professional, wait time was about 10 minutes, scheduling was easy. The only issue I had was with the EEG nurse. Doctor Vance was wonderful and she really took time to help us understand what was really going on with our son.

I don't know how this woman can work with kids, she is really unprofessional. Yells at parents for asking questions.. Hates it when kids drool. She actually wanted my son the have surgery so he would not drool so much. I don't know how she could still be practicing medicine.

She is rude and doesn't know how to deal with children. She has no manners and consently tells people to shut up.

She takes an amazing amount of time with her patients. You should always plan for 2 plus hrs. However she makes sure she looks at the entire picture. Not just wha she wants to here. And rushes you out the door. She is willing to think outside the box and not one other neurologist has shown that much thought or concern about my children. She tries very hard to find something to help and that is much appreciated. She is very to the point and doesn't mix words. Why would you want anything else. Doctors should give it to you straight not beat around the bush. Be toros red she is definatly a strange personality but you have ever been to or know other neurologists I haven't ,et one who isn't s bit strange. We haven't figured my child out fully yet but she is having some success far better then 3 other doctors attempts. Thank you Doc Vance for taking that much time to get to know my child personally every appt not just the first.

I saw Dr. Vance as a child from age 7-10, from 1997-2000, back when she practiced in Fresno, CA. On a whim I decided to see if she was still in practice. Unfortunately, she is. As a child she correctly diagnosed me with Tourette's syndrome, and misdiagnosed me with epilepsy. When I did not respond to the medications she put me on she upped the doses and added additional medications, over and over, until I was taking six different drugs at doses too high for a child (I have since learned). The medications made me sleep all day, turn into a mental-zombie, and lose enough muscle that I was not even able to walk one block without collapsing in pain. Dr. Vance did not think this was abnormal and had me continue the meds. When all my hair fell out my parents took me to a different pediatric neurologist and he said that there was absolutely no reason for me to be on all the meds I was on. He weaned me off of all but two, and brought me down to a low dose of those two. I started recovering… immediately, though it took about a year for me to build up a normal amount of muscle, and my hair came in frizzy. Then it turned into Shirley Temple curls for 6th grade, which was pretty awesome, and eventually my hair returned to normal. Moral of the story: this doctor is incompetent. It is not worth taking your child to see her even if she is closer than other pediatric neurologists. Even though she has correctly diagnosed and treated some children, there is no guarantee she will correctly treat YOUR child. PS: Two-hour office waits also were the norm when I was a kid, and she was horribly rude to me and my parents every single visit, especially when my parents questioned her logic. I guess some things never change.

We took our 18 month old to Dr. Vance. The whole experience was awful. Every appointment we had to wait for at least 45 minutes past our appointment time to see her. The she would spend 2+ hours with us in the exam room. She's very throughout but when our child started getting hungry and irritated about being cooped up so long Dr. Vance told us we couldn't give her a sippy cup because her dog was in the room and then told us that our daughters behavior was really bad and there must be a problem with her. I don't know what she expected of a 18 month old. We did an EEG and MRI and were able to pinpoint a problem but did not get a diagnosis. Dr. Vance insisted on putting our daughter on Keppra and made us feel like awful parents if we didn't. She basically medicated her without even knowing for sure what the problem was. We went ahead and did it but within 2 weeks of being on the medication our daughters whole personality changed. She was depressed, moody, and wouldn't eat a thing.… She came down with a high fever for 4 days and during that time we were unable to get a hold of Dr. Vance. We took matters into our own hands because she wouldn't get back to us and consulted with our pharmacist on how to take our daughter off of the meds. We never went back to Dr. Vance and she never even called for a follow up or to ask how our daughter was doing. Her bedside manner is atrocious. She doesn't listen to you and she makes assumptions and completely ignores your opinions and thoughts. It was truly an awful experience and I would never recommend her to anyone. I do think she is a very smart educated woman but I don't believe that every situation is strictly textbook and she treated it that way. Her staff was friendly and we actually really liked them.
