Dr. Carolyn Florence Davis, MD

I was surprised to read the negative reviews. I have been seeing Dr Davis for several years and she has been lovely. She performed my biopsy and had to tell me that I had cancer. She handled it with great sensitivity. Not sure what the negative reviewers were looking for - a best friend? Not what I needed.

I have been a patient of Dr. Davis for many years. I have had excellent treatment and care. She always calls me with results and follow ups and is there even when I needed comfort after another Dr did a procedure. There is another Carolyn Davis practicing in Fairfax and I feel that some of these comments are related to her

I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Davis. I was surprised to read the negative reviews. I have been with Dr. Davis for a number of years and have found her to be an excellent doctor and very responsive. Dr. Davis has always been attentive and understanding of my concerns as a patient. She is quick to call me after any test and has also called and spoke with my husband at length. I feel very taken care of at this practice and would refer my friends and family.

I had such a negative experience with this doctor that it's taken me a few years to attempt to try a new one. She entered the room with a force and just bulldozed through the appointment. I had never even met her and I was left in the exam paper gown for introductions which is already a little awkward. I have not had many adults in my life speak to me with an edge in their voice let alone a doctor who just came across so irritated but she literally came in with what seemed like a chip on her shoulder. I had heard raves about Dr. Wolfe but I figured her partner would also be excellent. It was an epic negative experience. I went to my car and asked myself what in the world just happened and cried! I never went back. I knew right then this goes beyond someone having a bad day. This has to do with someone who is not a peaceful person. I decided not to go to Dr. Wolfe because anyone who would continue working with someone who is so uncaring and hostile (different than abrupt or direct) was… not the doctor for me.

I've only seen Doctor Davis once. My experience was far beyond disappointing. She was extremely rough and her beside manner was just below awful. It may have just been a bad day for her, but I'm definitely not going back to further explore. With the exception of this doctor, the rest of the staff seemed to be pretty nice. What a disappointing first experience with this practice! I should have waited to see Dr. Wolf.

I have gone to this doctor much longer than I should have - after being encourage by friends and family to look elsewhere, I finally am. Issues I've had include: * Being told that she is too busy to share test results so I need to start calling the office after X amount of days and maybe they'll have them * I was a virgin when I first went to her and of the age to qualify for HPV vaccine. I asked about it. I was told by Dr. Davis that there was no point in getting the vaccine. Now, two years later I'm in a sexual relationship, got an abnormal pap, and MAY OR MAY NOT (next point) have tested for high risk hpv on the follow-up. * Had a colposcopy performed. Got a call saying good news, it's low-risk. Went in for my follow up pap 5 months later and was casually told that it was actually HIGH RISK. * That colposcopy? No explanation from the doctor. I was told to treat it like a pap in terms of vaginal activity beforehand. When I go to the clinic, the nurses were very helpful… in explaining physically what would happen during and after, how it would feel, etc. The doctor came in, got to business, and left with little explanation. Dr. Davis must work very hard, I appreciate that, but every time I go to see her she seems exhausted and/or bored. When I've tried to share concerns about the tests I've had to have performed or about contraception - or anything an OB/GYN should be able to advise in - she usually just shoots me down shortly. The nurses are all very nice and seem to genuinely enjoy what they do.

Dr.Davis delivered my son via emergency c-section. She is definitely a no nonsense kind of person and though this may seem uncaring, this is not the case. When it comes to making a prudent, quick decision, Dr. Davis is exemplary. She was attentive during my long labor and recommended a c-section only after it became absolutely necessary. She delivered the news with compassion because she knew that I was going to be disappointed. My son arrived healthy and safe thanks to Dr. Davis. I later learned what an excellent surgeon Dr. Davis is after I had a repeat c-section by another surgeon and I had no scar tissue! The surgeon commented on what a terrific job Dr, Davis had done. If you value expertise above all else this is the doctor for you.

I've gone 2 or 3 times to this doctor. The first time I was made to wait 45 minutes with my toddler in tow. She seemed cold. I gave her a couple of other chances. During one visit I asked her some questions on discomfort I was experiencing. She became exasperated and finally said 'why don't you just have a hysterectomy' as if to stop the conversation. I don't understand why a doctor would even say that without first helping me diagnose my issue. On another occasion, I tried to get advice on getting back on the pill. I have blood pressure issues so some care has to be taken in choosing the correct medication. When she realized it wasn't a simple question she didn't offer to help me identify a good option. I finally wondered why I kept submitting myself to this disdain and left the practice.

I have never been more disappointed with a doctor. The front desk staff was courteous and greeted me very professionally and welcoming. The nurse who took me back exam room was also very good. My appointment was initially with Dr. Wolf but when the staff told me I would see Dr. Davis, I was initially not disappointed because I had seen all these glowing reviews on line about her. Dr. Davis was by far probably the least compassionate doctor I have ever seen. When she came into the room she did not introduce herself nor did she ask me my name. For a practice that writes all over their website how they care about their patients I have never felt more invisible. I was very disappointed and will continue my search for a caring doctor.
