Dr. Shih is very efficient, thorough & caring. She did cataract surgery on both eyes & I’m very happy with the results. She puts you at ease & makes you feel comfortable. I would highly recommend Dr. Shih & the great staff at South Shore Eye Care!!

I went to Dr. Shih, of South Shore Eye Care, for my yearly exam expecting to get glasses for night driving. Testing revealed my cataracts had grown substantially and glasses would no longer help, only surgery would. I was perseverating at the thought of having cataract surgery. Fortunately, any questions or apprehension I had were completely allayed as Dr. Shih and the entire South Shore Eye Care and Garden City SurgiCenter staffs guided me through the process. From beginning to end, everyone’s competence and professionalism instilled an air of ease and confidence. The surgeries ran like clockwork and the results were absolutely amazing! I am very grateful for the skilled mastery of Dr. Shih which provided the best possible outcome for my eyes.

Over a 4 year period I have received 4 eye operations from Dr Shih, two cataracts and two corneal transplants with the new method. My vision is almost perfect now and she couldn't be kinder or more caring in her care. The negatives that I have seen here are spurious and hateful. I wonder if anti= asian bigotry could be playing a role here. From Charles Rowden

I was diagnosed with cataracts. They came on quickly and the right one totally occluded my vision. I was recommended to Dr Shih by my niece (who had her eye saved by Dr Shih). As I am a big chicken, I was so worried about the surgery. Well let me just say, Dr Shih and her Northshore team were wonderful. From the first visit, through the surgery and follow up, I was treated with compassion and respect. Dr Shih knows her stuff, is very direct but when you need some extra time or have questions, she doesn't make you feel as if you are stupid or wasting her time. I would recommend her.

I found Dr. Shih to be a very compassionate and caring doctor. I had a rare and serious eye infection that took long time to diagnose and treat. Dr. Shih was persistant on getting the correct diagnosis and explained everything every step of the way. She listened to my concerns and included me in the plan of care. Dr. Shih quickly re-adjusted any changes in my medications based on my response to the meds and always explained how to take the meds correctly. She is quick during her visit but always has time for questions, makes you feel at ease and is never condescending if you need further explanation. I would highly recommend her as a doctor.
