Dr Van Tassel preformed my cataract surgery. I was a little apprehensive about it but when I met her she put me at ease with her warmth and compassionate understanding of my uneasiness Dr Van Tassel took time to answer all my questions clearly and in detail She did not make me feel rushed. Presently I see Dr Van Tassel for follow up appointments. She is very through, before seeing me she has me going through a battery of tests so she can determine how my surgery is proceeding. Then when I see her in her office, she takes the time to answer all my questions and explains each one clearly. I give Dr Van Tassel my highest recommendation Marilyn Dismond

Wonderful doctor. She is supported by a great staff and resident. Dr. Van Tassel pulls it all together- theoretical knowledge, practical skills, precise analyses, all combined with an empathetic character. I feel very lucky to have found her practice.

Her expertise and bedside manners are so very impressive. I can assure you will be in the very best hands with her and her phenomenal surgical staff. Additionally, her office schedule coordinator, Alexandra, is so so accommodating should you have any questions and for scheduling your appointments. I am a little late with this particular review because I didn’t know how to get into the portal here but I certainly submitted a review right after my surgery elsewhere. Dr. Van Tassel is absolutely amazing! Such a professional and so caring to her patients. She performed an excellent left eye cataract surgery. I have since had an accident so I had to postpone my right eye cataract surgery of which I rebooked for later this month and I hope I’ll be in shape to have it done then otherwise it will be in May but it will happen and only by her! It was such a pleasant procedure that I can’t wait to go back! Additionally, she has trained or supervised her staff so well that I have had thorough expert eye testing from each and everyone of them. Her schedule coordinator is also so efficient. I’ve really never seen anything like it and I am not new to the ophthalmology department at Cornell. But I am a new patient to this surgeon. The prior surgeon is no longer with the hospital. I was so… upset when he left figuring who am I going to get who is just as good because he was very good at the time. But let me assure you, she’s the best!! I’m sure every doctor at this great great teaching hospital, world renowned, is excellent but I’m writing the review based on my experience, and I assure you with 100% confidence and enthusiasm, that Dr. Vantassell, if you can even get to see her as a new patient, is there and she’s also an assistant Director of the glaucoma department. I also look for surgeons who are current medical professors at Cornell because that makes me feel that they are up-to-date with all the latest techniques and modalities. To me that’s important. She meets my entire criteria in every way and she’s a lovely lady as well. Yes she’s young but she is extremely experienced and performing surgery consistently every week and has been with the hospital at least 10 years. It’s like so perfect! This was a follow up. I had first met with Dr van tassel during the beginning of Covid. I had a detached retina. I also had a cataract in same eye. Permanent lens was put in.I had not seen her since that time. I had used other Dr’s from same practice. Had a little haze in eye. Made an appointment. Passing her in hallway she commented that it was nice seeing me again. Well took me by surprise. We had a great meeting when we met in office. And I will have the pleasure of meeting her again to perform the cleaning of lens. A very professional Dr.

My visit to Dr. Van Tassel was to follow up my status of Cataract. I could feel she cares about her patients benefit. Before she told me her conclusion, I went through extensive checks and evaluations, & a medical resident examine. You knew you can trust her and her supporting staffs. An excellent physician.
