Dr. Cassandra Vivian Service, MD

Worse doctor ever - one star is one too many for Dr. Service. She was degrading, cold, dropping the f-bomb at the first appointment I had with her, while telling me about another patient of hers. She is HIGHLY unprofessional, and did not listen to me, but instead heard what she wanted and stopped listening. She advised me to get a prescription to something that I'm highly allergic to, as indicated all over my charts. I wouldn't send my dog to her. Not only does she not have any compassion, she is the most unprofessional doctor I have ever met. I'm not even sure how she has been in practice for as long as she has.

I was referred to Dr. Service by my primary care doctor for irregular periods and bleeding. She was extremely cold, dismissive and hostile throughout our two short interactions. She behaved as if she was personally angry at me, despite having just met. She offered no input about the cause of my symptoms, refused to discuss potential treatment options or next steps, and attempted to perform an invasive uterine biopsy as part of a routine pelvic exam without even asking or informing me. At best, she is an uninterested and unkind provider. At worst, her complete lack of interest and empathy in her patients has the potential to be dangerous.

Was not happy she had to replace my doctor and deliver my daughter. She came in fast, never acknowledged me, just did her job and got up and left saying nothing to me. For any new mom who is already scared, let alone having a random Doctor deliver instead of the one you trust, this makes the experience very unpleasant. Not one smile on that woman’s face and not even a “hello” or “congratulations”. She should really work on her people skills. It was many years ago that this occurred. It is sad to see from these reviews that she has not improved.

Dr Service laughed and made comments about my concerns with my second pregnancy. I am a medical student. I was looking for relief for intense itching I was having in my hands and feet. I looked it up and happened to stumble on Cholestasis of pregnancy. So I looked into it, noticed I had several symptoms. I called the OB office and let them know. The next day I had an appointment with Dr Service. When I told her what my concern was, she laughed and made comments about “Dr Google”. Dr Service said to just use moisturizer. Two weeks later I seen another OB and expressed my concern considering I was going on 3 weeks of intense itching and the other symptoms I was having. She asked what I would like to do. I said I’d like to have the simple blood tests for Cholestasis. She agreed. Yesterday I went to my OB Dr Sheridan (who is AMAZING!), and she confirmed that I do have Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy. Had I not gone with my gut, I could have had a stillborn son. Dr Service needs to… take what her patients says into consideration. Thank you to Dr. Gordon-Fogelson for listening to my concerns!

She delivered my daughter via C-section and was my OB my entire pregnancy. I will not see anyone else. She's understanding, and listens. Would recommend her to anyone looking.

SHE KNOWS HER STUFF, SHE CAUGHT AN INFECTION WHEN MY PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR DIDN'T.

Dr. Service delivered my beautiful son and helped me though a rough csection. If it wasnt for her I think I would have falling apart but she was always there when I needed her and explained everything to me and my husband. I would never change my baby Dr or on. Thank you Dr Service

After I had my son, Dr. Service was the one who came in to discharge me. She was pretty rude in her tone of voice and demeanor ("holier-than-thou" attitude). She asked me what I wanted to do for birth control. She didn't ask if I wanted to go back on, she was pretty much forcing me to. I did want to for obvious reasons, so I said I wanted to go on Ortho tri cyclen Lo. She prescribed it for me. BIG WHOOPS on her part. I JUST found out from a doctor at SVMC (where I had my second son) that doctors don't recommend that kind of pill because it can lower your milk supply for your baby. Now the reason why this is an issue for me is because my first born son was literally starving for the first few months of his life. He lost a ton of weight for a baby and would go 2-3 weeks without having a bowel movement. I brought him to other doctors (not at BMC... elsewhere) to try to figure out the issue, and they gave him suppositories... yeah, they were forcing my baby to poop when he had nothing to… poop. I was forced to give him formula just so he wouldn't starve to death, as badly as I wanted to nurse him. Eventually my son gave up nursing at 5 months and it broke my heart. It was important to me to nurse him for about a year. This is all because this bonehead doctor gave me the wrong med to take. I'm grateful I had my second born at a hospital with more knowledgeable doctors who won't prescribe me meds that will starve my baby. I blamed myself for this for almost four years, as I had no idea that my milk supply diminished all because Dr. Service couldn't be bothered to do her job.

This doctor is...odd. I really can't think of any other word to describe her. My regular doctor was out for my annual appointment so I saw her. She was unorganized, all over the place, and seemed confused in general. She spent the entire time typing on her lap top and occasionally acknowledging my presence. I would not go back to her.

Dr. Service has always been great!
