Dr. Catherine Sook Song, MD

Went in for ovarian pain, was referred by the ER because I had a large ruptured cyst. The office staff is nice, but this doctor blew my mind with her lack of professionalism and I left in tears. She told me that: 1. no doctor in Modesto will want to see you because you have too many problems 2. No one treats pelvic pain, it’s best if you use your mind and think of a solution yourself. You’re smart you can figure it out. 3. We could and should do surgery, but I doubt you will heal well. 4. Any doctor is going to look at your file and say bad things, not to your face but about you. 5. You really need to mediate. I meditated my migraines away. 6. We can try to refer you to Stanford, but I doubt they’ll want to take you on either because you’re just too complex. 7. Did you have a lot of childhood trauma? Maybe childhood trauma is causing your ovary problem. 8. Birth control probably won’t help you, but I’ll write you a script for it. Which one did you want?

I was in and out as I like I had direct questions she answered to what sound to be a direct answer versus beating around the bush I like that I don’t have to wait so long for appointments staff friendly

I went there with pelvic pain she sent me to a surgeon to do an invasive exploratory surgery (which afterward even the surgeon said I could've just done an MRI instead and gotten the same results)when I went back to her she asked why I even came back! I asked her how are we going to treat my newly diagnosed condition of "Endometriosis" and she gave me a list of Birth control and left me alone for 45min. and came back to ask which one I decided on and I told her that birth control isn't good enough, I have pain, and a growing lump, and even articles I've read say birth control does nothing and that's not even a decent plan to take care of my condition and she replied "No one treats what you have"...! 1. How can a doctor say that to their patient. 2. How can you list "Endometriosis" is a condition you treat when is not, it's a condition she avoids & 3. Doctors do treat it, it's just a rare condition.

Dr. Song has been my doctor for 17 years, thru 3 children births! She has excellant experience and patience. She is very attentive and honest and doesn't spend time/money on unecessary procedures and/or tests. She is very calming and educational to speak with during pregnancy and encourages good health, diet and exercise. The office staff is accomodating with appointments and the ability to speak with Dr. Song anytime needed is such a rare plus! Knowing that she will be the one at your delivery and not just some on-call doctor is irreplaceable!

I would not recommend this doctor. I had an annual check up with her for the first time, and I have never been to a OBGYN specialist before. Her staff was not very welcoming; They were unhappy that I didn't fill out the forms before I came to the office when nobody told me that there were forms I could fill out at home. I asked the doctor to tell me what she was doing because I haven't had an appointment like this before. She poked and prodded without any warning. She hardly talked to me unless I asked a question. Even when I asked a question, she either answered with a "yes," "no," or "I don't know," and she would accompany the answer with a look on her face like "why are you concerned?" I was uncomfortable talking to her about my issues because it seemed like she didn't care.

Dr. Song was the worst Dr. I have ever been to. She does not spend any time with her patients and her staff is useless. I was pregnant with my daughter and she was very uncaring and rude. She made me feel like I was crazy to even ask questions during the pregnancy.She would forget to schedule tests and I would have to remind her. When problems did arise she was no help and actually caused me to suffer. I have very high blood pressure that she seemed to disregard. During labor I was sent home from the hospital because of her. My water broke at home and when I did finally make it back to the hospital it was too late for the epidural. I ended up getting an infection days later and I could not get a hold of her. I actually had to go to my family practitioner. Beware Dr. Song also likes to sell Supplements from her office. She sold me a $60 "miracle" stomach cure that was nothing but fiber. Turns out she is an actual re seller and marketer of the stuff and making money from them.I just want… to warn others and hopefully keep some poor woman from going thru any of the negative experience i had with her.

I came to Dr. Song one year after being diagnosed with breast cancer (she was not my doctor when diagnosed). She was so compassionate and asked me questions but also listened to my responses. I really needed a doctor to show that they cared....and she met all of my needs. Thank you Dr. Song! Also...the office staff has always been so nice..and they have the cleanest restroom!

If you are a first-time mother DO NOT go to this doctor!! She is all over the place and you'll be lucky if she remembers to bring your chart into the room with her. I thought of swtiching doctors after my 2nd appointment with her but decided to just stick it out. I wish I hadn't! I have absolutely no confidence in her what-so-ever and I just pray my labor and delivery go smoothly.

Had cyst on ovary that was possible cancer. Told me if it looked bad inside, she would do what needed doing. No cancer at all,some other problems, but she took EVERYTHING!

After the 45 seconds she spent with me in the room, and made me feel like I was on a conveyor belt going by her. The office got my prescription wrong so many times it wasn't even funny. She never apologized, just spoke condescendingly. The staff is awful, unprofessional, has facial piercings, etc, rude.... and it is just a reflection of their boss. The only thing good about this place was the Nurse Practitioner who is no longer there. Big shock!
