Dr. Chandra Sen, MD

My son was diagnosed with a Clivus Chordoma in 2011. Dr. Sen performed three miracles from then to this week. He is the most amazing surgeon and human being we have ever known. He is simply the best.

A doctor in NJ recommended seeing Dr Sen at NYU. The moment I first met him I knew he was the surgeon for me. After our initial consultation, at which he recommended surgery ASAP, he asked if I wanted to bring family to the next appointment. Well, 4 of my 6 children, another son on speaker phone, and my sister joined my husband and myself in the exam room. Dr Sen and his assistant, Mary Micheli, were very patient in explaining to all of us the procedure to remove my tumor. At the end, he took my hand and spoke softly to me, reminding me to have faith and trust. I never felt anxious or nervous about the surgery, I felt at ease with our decision to go with this gentle soul of a surgeon. Just saw him today, 7 months after surgery, and again we experienced his excellent bedside manner. Simply the best!

Dr. Sen is an extremely talented and dillgent surgeon with the gift of being able to operate where many other surgeons won't go. On top of that, he has excellent bedside manner and is very thorough and direct in answering any questions you have about your follow up care. Highly recommend!

I had two tumors, one was small that was in front of the massive one that surrounded my optic nerves and pituitary gland. He told me if he didn’t operate that I would go completely blind with many other issues. I had two 8 hour surgeries and he saved my vision. This massive tumor was one of the most difficult he had ever seen and he completely got it all off of my optic nerves and pituitary gland and saved my vision. There is still some tumor left but overall I couldn’t be happier with the results. No other surgeon I would’ve trusted to do this difficult operation. Very nice man and truly cares about your well being.

Dr Sen performed brain aneurysm surgery on me 24 years ago at MT. Sinai in New York City. The surgery was a16 hour ordeal and Dr. did a vein transplant around the aneurysm. The aneurysm was on my optic nerve and very delicate surgery. Dr. Sen saved my life and I am eternally grateful. He was very professional, but also very compassionate with me and my family. Nothing but an exemplary rating from me!!

Dr.Sen is the Best! He's is not only very skilled in the field, he is caring and concerned! After my surgery he visited me three times in one day and then I saw him at least twice each day I was in the hospital. I suffered from a large benign tumor on my brain stem. I was no longer able to walk without assisstance and was suffering cognitive impairment due the size of the tumor. Through swift action by Doctor Sen I live a happy normal life.

One week ago today Dr. Sen removed my benign brain tumor! I "interviewed" 3 Nerosurgeons and knew when I met him he was my Dr. His direct but compassionate nature is what one needs when you are told shocking news. His office staff moved quickly to get my pre op testing done and made sure everything was in order. The NYU Nero Team, ICU Nurses, and everyone involved in the surgery were SUPURB! I should be asleep but I am so filled with GRATITUDE I wanted to share my experience. Dr. Sen came to see me twice a day when I was in the hospital and told me to now "put this behind you and heal." I know there are a lot of wonderful Dr. to choose from but I hope if you are deciding this review was helpful. Praise GOD for sending Dr. Sen to me!
