Dr. Charisse Hills Barta, MD

Dr. Barta is the best Neuro doctor I have ever had. She cares, spends time with you like you're her only patient, and get's right to the issue with a brief conversation. She asks probing questions, and then develops a plan to treat your condition!

This review is for her office staff. I have not interacted much with the doctor but the administration and staff is terrible and inept. Stay far from this place.

Dr. Barta is one of my favorite doctors ever. She knew after me taking with her in 20 minutes what my condition was. I was prescribed medicine but did have a MRI to confirm the diagnosis. It was spot on. I like that she took the time to really explain what was going on and seems to truly care about her patients. She did follow up exams right on schedule and I had no problem with those. The only difficult thing were the available hours. No early (8 am) or late afternoons. I did have to take off work for all of my appointments. She was definitely worth it. I am moving out of state and she will be one of the things I will miss the most here.

She has the best personality! I felt cared for the minute I met her. After describing my symptoms, she ordered EEG and MRI and put me on medications for TLE immediately. MRI confirmed and she was quick to follow up and develop a regime for me. Receptionist is wonderful, the nurse is not the warmest person though.

No one ever returns a phone call or fax. I've been waiting for treatment for over a year. Have only got into see her twice. Won't follow up on health insurance...can't believe I've wasted a year of my life with this Dr. and inept staff.

The most unprofessional doctors office environment I have ever been to!

Most disappointing experience. My MRI was delayed several weeks but the results were sent to Dr Barta's office immediately. When I called the office, her schedule was booked out and I had to wait for over a month for consultation. Being in extreme pain, I called five straight days in a row to try to get some indication of the results and a direction to relieve the pain but Dr Barta NEVER returned call or had her staff follow up. Not a very caring healthcare provider for one who specializes in pain management.

I arrived at Dr Barta's following treatment under two other neurologists. She became my doctor when a neurologist retired. I had severe brain trauma , the event sudden and changed my life. As I went through amaze of opinions and tests, I found most of the opinions were based on an average. I refused to accept I cannot do better. Dr Barta spent nearly two hours talking to me and asking questions then examining my leg and gait. Nwhile this doctor was honest I believe, she also brought me hope that she would work with me to gain as much back as possible, a potentially long journey. If you need someone who will make the journey to reclaim your independence then see this doctor.

My wife has back pain issues that will likely require surgery (pharmaceutical, injections, PT, etc. haven't worked). She was working with Dr. Charisse Barta at Texas Neurology Consultants. First, I will say that Dr. Barta was very nice. But, I do not feel that she managed a treatment plan at all. She simply prescribed some medications and told my wife to go to PT. There was not discussion of what to expect, what subsequent steps would be taken if they didn't work, how long before any change might be expected, how long before these treatments should be considered ineffective, etc. It seems to me that back pain issues--which can be complex--should be managed through a treatment plan with more care. The larger issue is the doctor's office at Presbyterian Plano (at 6124 Parker Road, Suite 336). The staff in that office were rude and unhelpful to the point that my wife is now finding another doctor. Specifically, the Office Manager, Laurie M. Cyprus, was very hard to work with. If I… were a medical professional, she is definitely not the kind of person I would want representing me to patients. I would say that Barta's treatment was enough to give my wife second thoughts whether to continue with her, but that the office staff's lack of professionalism was the deciding factor. It is not worth dealing with rude staff, especially when you are in severe pain.
