Dr. Charles Joseph Burke, MD

This doctor decided where my pain was. Did not give me the chance to explain my symptoms. Told me that because I'm only in my mid 30's I couldn't have a shoulder problem and then proceeded to tell me that he only ever saw women with the type of pain (that he had decided) I had. He ignored any info I gave him that wasn't part of his assessment based on my age and gender. He clearly has a big problem evaluating women or taking them seriously. And probably also a problem taking the proper time to evaluate patients he doesn't consider worth is time for whatever reason. He also told me that if anyone could help me it was one out- of- network PT across the city (probably a friend of his)and gave me his card which listed selling doTerra essential oils as one of his services. No, nope. There is not only one PT in a city with a huge medical system who can help me and I will not be paying out of pocket for a PT who feels the need to be part of an MLM on the side.

my wife had a broken leg, it showed up on the MRI that Burke looked at. He said it was just there was nothing wrong except arthritis

Dr. Burke, while perhaps a great surgeon, has terrible patient interface/followup skills to the point of being rude. He was unwilling or unable to provide help on the serious pain I have experienced for months following my knee surgery once an x-ray showed that there was no issue with the actual metal knee he installed. What about everything else, tendons,etc, that had to be worked around during the surgery that need to heal following the surgery. He feels he has no responsibility in those areas. We saw on the website that he has received a compassionate doctor award. This must be a joke. I have not seen this in any visit I have had with him, especially the most recent.

had both tib/fib broke along with torn rotator cuff back in 93.was patient for over 2 years.looked forward to appointments.even then pain medication was not issued very easily.was told if in pain you should be in hospital! GREAT ADVICE! Thank You DOC! Went back to plumbing heating and electric job after 2 1/2 years from surgery.bowled several 300 games.I can`t thank you enough!

Doctor was dismissive of the report which my wife's PT had written regarding her condition. His arrogance in this regard made her condition considerably worse. He treated us like country bumpkins. It was disappointing.

I have been trying unsuccessfully to schedule a surgery for my fiancee', along with him calling because he has been in EXTREME pain. I keep getting the answering service suggesting that someone named MJ will call you. Not only did I not get a call back, but when I finally spoke to someone named Linda she said this 'mystical, probably non-existent MJ' will call you back. Well, it has been 2 weeks and still NO CALL, NO CALLBACKS. I guess if you are in pain and waiting for someone to call you back. Dr. Burke will see you when your knee falls off, before you get a call from MJ - if there really is an MJ.

Anyone considering a total knee replacement, PLEASE save yourself the trouble of Doctor shopping...GO STRAIGHT TO DR CHARLES J BURKE, III. I have been a patient for 17+ years and there is not space here to list ALL of the accolades that I have for this surgeon. Simply, HE IS THE BEST! Just listen to this: Dr Burke performed total knee replacement (TKA) on my right knee, same knee that he had already done an ACL repair (17 yrs ago) and a meniscus repair (10 yrs ago) and I was back to work in 9 days after total knee replacement. THAT IS UNHEARD OF! In my opinion, there is NO ONE that can come close to Dr Burke and he has a wonderful bedside manner. I am over the moon with how well I can walk and carry out my daily tasks with NO PAIN. I can't wait to have my other knee replaced! Thank you Dr Burke!!!

I saw Dr. Burke after suffering a serious shoulder injury, tearing three of the four tendons of the rotator cuff. He carried out a complicated repair of my rotator cuff with consummate skill. He is a wonderful orthopedic surgeon.

Long wait to see doctor but did have X-rays and filled out info but had to wait in examining room 30 min. Dr. Burke was very professional, make a quick diagnosis and provided treatment. I liked his personal manner and knowledge. Good doctor for anyone needing care.

Dr. Burke did a great job explaining my injury and my treatment options. I opted for surgery which went well.
