This was the most unfeeling doctor we have ever had. He cut out half a lung and when my husband mentioned pain he scoffed and told him to deal with it. Are you effing serious! The best part was that the surgery cut his life span to 6 miserable painful months!

Dr. Cousar performed my bypass surgery (5 bypasses) in 2013. He and his staff were excellent and I would highly recommend them.

Dr. Cousar saved my life. I had not heard of him before coming to Baptist Heart for a triple bypass. After researching him and his team, I came away knowing I was in the best of hands and the best heart hospital in the State. He really did save my life. A compassionate, highly skilled surgeon. Humble, even for a Princeton/Johns Hopkins man!

Dr. Cousar has done valve replacement on my husband, a AAA and a TEVAR procedure on me so my trust in him is complete. First impression will be no beside manner but time will greatly improve that. In my opinion skill wins out. His research before surgery is excellent. When he steps into the operating room, you know he is as up to date and prepared as he can possibly be. I would trust my life in the operating room to no one else

Office wait times are long, but Dr. Cousar is worth the wait

Other reviews were correct. He is a good surgeon, but lacks caring and beside manner. He does not want to interact with patient or family after surgery. He did not adequately explain the surgery and it's ramifications to the patient.

I advise you to consider carefully before choosing this doctor. He doesn't want to address any issues that you feel are important. He doesn't visit the patient before surgery.(sends his asst) and he comes across as uncaring when the surgery results turn out to be fatal and accepts no responsibilty in poor decisions that he makes.

Knows what he's doing, but doesn't like dealing with family....almost avoids them after surgery. Will see the patient, but tries to avoid the family overall. He IS a caring physician, just doesn't have the greatest bedside manner.
