Dr. Dasher is the best! Prior to retiring I had a mammogram and colonoscopy in late 2012. Mammogram and subsequent biopsy showed that I had breast cancer. The colonoscopy by Dr. Dasher at UAB Highlands showed that I had two rather dangerous polyps--one rather flat one and another large one that nearly blocked my colon. Both were precancerous. I had no symptoms. He totally removed the flat one, and a portion of the larger one. He wouldn't remove it all at one time because of the relative danger of nicking the colon. He wanted to do it when a gastric surgeon was available in case the polyp had invaded areas outside the colon. My oncologist (finding this out) referred me to a gastric surgeon who recommended removing my entire colon, and creating an ostomy for me. Dr. Dasher, however, came to my rescue and conferred with the surgeon. He assured the surgeon that he could successfully remove the remainder of the large polyp, and that a total colostomy was not needed. He saved me from… unnecessary surgery and lifelong misery. The first surgeon said that if he took out the bad sections containing the polyps, my colon wouldn't have sufficient blood supply to survive and function, and that he would therefore recommend removing the entire colon. I've had 3 follow up colonoscopies with Dr. Dasher to keep check on things. He is incredibly kind, listens to you, and talks with your family. I highly recommend!!!

I was extremely pleased with the professional care I received today during my visit with Dr. Dasher. He is very thorough, explains in detail, listens and is a caring doctor. He reviewed my medical history, discussed everything with me and was never in a hurry. He is one of the Best. I most definitely recommend him as a caring doctor. Mitchell McKay

UAB hospital in Birmingham Alabama is probably one of the worse hospitals for care. The nurses (especially Angela on the 6th floor of Wallace Spain) is one of the worse nurses. The doctors don't make their rounds and when you see them in the hall they turn the other way to avoid you. The nurses sit around at the nurses station on their cell phones with their feet propped up on a chair of desk. To me this is not a good hospital. I would never recommend UAB university of Alabama hospital in Birmingham Alabama to anyone. The care is simply not up to par with other hospitals in the immediate area. Avoid this hospital if you can.

I have seen Dr. Dasher twice; once for a colonoscopy and once for an office visit two years later. He has an absolutely excellent "bedside" manner and is a quiet, attentive, kind, thoughtful person who listens intently to what I say and asks appropriate questions. He is my favorite physician of all time. I worked in the medical field over 30 years (but have not for the last 15 years) so I have seen and talked with PLENTY of physicians both as a fellow employee and as a patient. Dr. Dasher is a fantastic and professional physician and wonderful person. His staff also is very devoted to him.

Absolutely the worst experience I had as anyone's patient. I was in the waiting room for over 2 hours!!! People that had appointments before me left after 1-1/2 hour wait. I should have followed the but when you are in pain you tend to make stupid decisions. I would not reccoment using this doctor to my worst enemy!!!

I went to Dr. Dasher about 20 yrs ago for a 2nd opinion, when I was sick. Seeing him turned out to be a blessing. I had went to my regular Dr. as I was ill, and the regular Dr. had diagnosed me with Hepatitis C, and told the test I was given was 99% accurate & I needed to begin immediate treatments for this. After Dr. Dasher saw me & talking to me, he was not satisfied with the diagnosis or the 99% accurate test they had given me & sent two more blood samples off to be tested, one to KY & one to TX. They came back both negative, and the original test was wrong & I definitely did not have Hep. C. He called it a False Positive, and though rare, I didn't have Hep.C Dr. Dasher saved me a world of misery, as the treatments they wanted me to take were awful & I could have died from the treatments. Have been to him several times since & feel most comfortable with him, his skills, his test procedures, & his knowledge.

Dr Dasher is a very professional doctor who made me feel at ease. He has a long wait time but that's understandable because he sees all of UAB for GI problems. He took the time to call me back personally and relay the diagnosis.
