Best doctor I have ever had! Has everything a person would want in a doctor.

Dr. Hesdorffer has been my rock since I first saw him as a "second opinion" referral (at Johns Hopkins) in the summer of 2008. Following my original diagnosis of CLL, my local oncologist was ready to start chemotherapy immediately. When I visited Dr. H. he literally spent two hours with me and my wife, answering all of our many questions about CLL and its treatment. We very much appreciated his conservative approach in stating that a much superior protocol for me was to "watch and wait" rather than endure the effects (not all good!!) of the chemo treatments. Over three years later, I am still getting very good blood test results, doing quite well taking a few recommended antioxidants and supplements, and still (hopefully) a long way away (if ever) from needing any chemo. Dr. H. has simply been terrific for us, and I can't say enough about his wonderful sense-of-humor and calming effect when I ask him about ANYTHING relating to my general health -- not just the CLL.

I have been seeing Dr Hesdorffer for a few years now........to know him is to trust him with your life.....He is compassionate - and actually cares about his patients who have been giving the bad news of leukemia. He thinks outside the box - doesn't rush into doing chemo because it is the 'thing' to do. I hope he never leaves baltimore!!

My husband has been under the care of Dr. Hesdorffer for CLL since 2008. He came highly recommended by our family physician. We went to see other oncologists prior to this and found no one was listening and the only treatment option was chemotherapy. Dr.Hesdorffer not only listens to his patients, he carefully manages his patient's condition and treats them accordingly. Because of this fact, nearly three years later, my husband has a good quality life. Dr. Hesdorffer is an amazing doctor who really cares about each one of his patients. Thank you Dr. Hesdorffer, we are both very grateful!

When he examined me for my chronic leukemia, he didn't seem interested in my nodes at all, while previously, other practitioners at Hopkins had measured them. Too quick to haul out the heavy hitting drugs, plus little encouragement. When I left him, because he moved further away, I asked for his assistance to find a new onc at Hopkins, by e-mail (twice), and once by phone, and he has yet to recommend someone, nearly a year later. Not a true scientist, just a prescriber, like too many docs.
