Dr. Charles William Murphy, MD

Very caring and sympathetic doctor.

As far as the staff, most are very nice and caring. Dr. Murphy,although fairly polite, has a tendency for minimizing. When trying to explain to the doctor how bad the pain is, he seems to only truly listen to less then half of what you are saying, it's rather demeaning. I always come out of his office frustrated and confused, if not in down right tears. I'm still in pain because no matter what I try to express, he minimizes the pain, So needless to say, I'm still miserable and dissatisfied. I think if he would spend more then five minutes with the patient and listened, would be a huge improvement.

There was no point in going to this doctor.He didn't even want to listen to condition or go over treatment options. Not worth the time....He was very rude and kept ignoring me during the five minutes he was in the room.

I've been having lower back pain that was progressively getting worse. No surgery for me! The first thing I told my doctor was that I did not want to have major back surgery if it was not the last resort. She sent me to Hill Country Pain Associates for a consultation and so far I have been doing great. They worked out a treatment plan with me and we are going to manage this pain together. I appreciate Dr Murphy and his office for their good bedside manner and being good listeners.

I asked for a referral to Dr. Bill Murphy from my PCP because my neighbor recommended him. He is truly the best in San Antonio. I am doing so much better and am very happy with my treatment.

Doctor C.W. Murphy was able to treat my chronic pain after only two visits. I have been through countless doctors over the past several years with zero success until now.Dr Murphy actually listened to my symptoms and determined a course of action based on the information I provided. In my experience it is VERY rare to be listened to (sad, but true). I found Dr Murphy to be very pleasant and compassionate. It bears mentioning that he does run a very successful and bustling practice so wait times are expected but certainly worthwhile in the end. Dr Murphy does have a tendency to run behind schedule; some people are just that way! I am personally willing to accept this quality because he is the best doctor I have ever been treated by.With the exception of one nurse, the entire staff was incredibly friendly and professional.One piece of advice that is not necessarily specific to this doctor: make sure you give specific information that is relevant to your visit. Accurate… descriptions of your pain, how it impacts your life, what makes it better or worse, etc is what your pain doctor needs to treat you. If you want to moan and groan for hours, see a therapist.
