Dr. Charles Delbert Prewitt, MD

My husband and I took our toddler for an ear evaluation. We had to wait nearly an hour before being seen by the doctor even though the office was not very busy. The doctor took an ear scope out of his drawer and spent about 2 second looking in his ears before announcing he had fluid buildup and needed ear tubes. He then put the ear scope back in the same drawer without sanitizing it for the next patient - Yuck! We already knew our son would have fluid in his ears, since he just finished his antibiotics for an ear infection the day before and our pediatrician said it would take a few weeks for the fluid to drain. When we asked very basic questions like the success rate of ear tubes and the potential for any side effects, the doctor became very defensive. He tried to pressure us to schedule the surgery as soon as possible. When I asked about a hearing test, the doctor claimed it would required a very expensive brain scan. When we checked with a family member who worked at an audiology… clinic, she said that a simple behavioral hearing test is easy to perform and should have been included in the exam to see if ear tubes are warranted. We will definitely be going to a different doctor.

He is a wonderful doctor, and really knows his stuff, he took out the tonsils of all three of my boys. They were having infections, coughs etc. and the family doctor was reluctant to remove their tonsils, after seeing Dr. Prewitt, and surgery the problems all cleared up and never returned! Love this man!
