Dr. Charlie Yang, MD

Dr. Yang did my knee replacement and it was amazing from start to finish. He and his team are concise, he has a kind and great bedside manner and is an excellent surgeon. I would absolutely recommend him! Thank you Dr. Yang!

The appointment was scheduled at 9:00 a.m. with Dr C. Yang's. Left home at 8:00 a.m. arrived at hospital on time. Did not start the surgery until 1:45 p.m.. WHAT A JOKE! They always use the same excuse doctor had unforeseen circumstances. Tired of the BS! Schedule what you can do. Do not waste my time. This was knee surgery; the doctor blew into my room like the Wind pull down blanket and started marking on the right knee which was NOT the correct knee. We stated; Doctor it is left knee, "he mumbled where is the chart." Don't know about his skill will have to let you know in 3 to 6 months. Slow down and smell the roses please.

I went to see Dr. Yang. due to severe pain in my right hip following total hip replacements done by a different surgeon. He totally missed the fact that I had a torn tendon in my right hip and told me nothing was wrong with me. He even laughed at me. What a jerk.

I have had two total hips and one knee replaced by Dr Yang and his team. The surgical experience was excellent and the follow up through rehab was great. My new joints are so good I don't even give them a thought. I couldn't be more pleased.

Dr. Yang was in Durham,NC and he did a complete knee replacement. Check it out if you don’t believe it. He put a metal rod in my knee then put the implant in at a angle. He tried another surgery but it didn’t work I’ve had 6 so far. He left the practice a month after my surgery and went to Denver. I lost my job my life and know I live on 1300 a month disability.He ruined my life! L. Houser

2 years after total knee replacement, I have had pain since after the 2nd month. I went to another surgeon, had it x-rayed, found out Dr Yang didn't do a "total knee replacement" he left out some parts. Now I'm stuck with a bad knee, looking at another surgery to correct his mistake. I paid for a total knee replacement, didn't get it. If you need surgery, in my opinion...find a different surgeon...Dr. Yang only cares about the fee.

Charlie Yang, MD replaced my hip and made two errors. The hip dislocated while still in the hospital (Porters), and I had 8 partial hip dislocations the first two weeks at home. I would also feel a hard â??clunkâ?? in the hip multiple times a day with normal movements. Dr Yang had no explanation for why this was happening and said with time, maybe itâ??ll settle in. Within three months, I had a revision surgery by a Dr in a different practice and hospital. He found the two errors Dr Yang made. The stem implanted was the wrong size and has moved my hip way to the side. The second and worse thing was the cup was pointing approximately 45 degrees the wrong way. So far off that the edge of the cup was acting like a fulcrum pulling the ball out of joint with certain leg movements. The stem couldnâ??t be replaced without extensive and painful surgery since the bone had grown around it. This has stretched the ligaments, tendons and nerves (sciatica in particular). I currently have… problems with sciatic and other soft tissue pain. These problems will no doubt continue getting worse over time as the soft tissue is stretched out and over the hip and rubs with each leg movement.. I cannot recommend Dr Yang for hip replacements. If I have the other hip replaced, I will use the Dr that did the revision surgery and a different hospital than Porters.

Dr. Yang replaced my hip which then dislocated in the hospital & had 8 partial dislocations at home. Felt a big clunk in the hip several times a day. Used a different doctor for the required second surgery. Dr. Yang made 2 errors. Cup was pointed 45 degrees off. Edge of cup acted as a cantilever pulling the ball out of joint. The stem he implanted was the wrong size & pushed my hip out to the side which causes on-going soft tissue issues. The stem couldnâ??t be replaced. Canâ??t recommend Dr. Yang.

I cannot recommend Dr. Yang after my experience. At first everything seemed great, he diagnosed me accurately and had a great bedside manner. The wait time for my surgery was a week, which meant spending a week in pain with a flipped meniscus. In discussing the surgery to remove my torn meniscus, I was told I would be in crutches for 2 weeks, which is great since I work with animals and need to be able to be on my feet and mobile. Upon waking up from surgery as I was getting ready to be discharged and confirming my process of "rehab" over the next two weeks, I was informed by the nurse I would need to be on crutches for AT LEAST 8 WEEKS! I asked to speak with Dr. Yang and sat there waiting for an hour and a half (after waking up from surgery). After waiting for an hour and a half and continuously being told he's on his way, I was finally informed he had stepped into another surgery 10 minutes ago (after waiting 80 minutes essentially), and he wasn't expected to be out for hours, so I… was driven home to recover. In the next two weeks I called several times to talk with him, but was only contacted back by nurses who unfortunately could only give me vague answers regarding my recovery, and I never found out why I was now stuck on crutches for 8 weeks instead of 2... until 3 months later when I was then living in Indiana. I was walking my motorcycle backwards into its parking spot, and felt a pain in the same knee. Upon going to see an orthopedic surgeon, I was informed that I had the same issue, and after having another surgery, was told that the previous "repair" had failed. Apparently despite the original plan to remove the torn meniscus and only have me on crutches for 2 weeks, Dr. Yang decided to suture down what turned out to be a piece of meniscus with no blood supply that was destined to fail (a rookie mistake as the second surgeon put it). After my second surgery where the meniscus was just removed, I was on crutches for a week and a half, and haven't had an issue since. So not only did Dr. Yang change the procedure without discussing it with me, or without even even discussing the possibility of trying to save the meniscus if it seemed viable in situ, but then he didn't even make the time to talk with me after to discuss the changes and what my rehab process needed to be. As someone studying to be a surgeon myself, that is not acceptable.
