Dr. Cheryl Rhan Hsin Chen, MD

She is so unprofessional and rude, I honestly don’t know how she is allowed to practice the way that she does. Luckily everything went well with my procedure but my only complaint would be having her as my anesthesiologist. She was about an hour late so we all had to wait for her to arrive, and she was so rude to her staff. I overheard her talking to the experienced nurses around her saying “is this your first day here because I can give you an orientation” and questioning what they were doing. Very distasteful and unprofessional.

I truly do not know who respects Dr. Cheryl Chen and how or why... because she sure does not show any respect to her staff or her patients!! She could at least pretend to care about her patients but she does not even try. Also, she was late for my procedure and I had to wait over an hour. Luckily everything went well with my procedure, but Dr. Chen really rubbed me the wrong way and I could not get it out of my head. What bothers me the most is how terribly she talks to her staff! I overheard her belittling the experienced nurses around her saying “is this your first day because I can show you around” and questioning what they were doing. I hope other patients to unfortunately land in her care speak up and write their personal reviews here- avoid Dr. Cheryl Chen as your anesthesiologist!

"Dr." Cheryl Chen's negligence during my husband's surgery at UCSF (in 2009) ultimately resulted in his death (4 years ago today). He was only 67 years old, and was also a father, grandfather, brother, uncle cousin and friend to many! Due to her careless error, my husband subsequently endured numerous complications, resulting in 18 hospitalizations, many ER visits, and several inpatient and outpatient procedures, which caused immense pain and suffering. His quality of life was horrible - because of the gastric leak Dr. Chen caused, he was on tube feedings most of his remaining time, and dealt with horrible pain and depression every day. He finally chose hospice and died 2 1/2 years after HER error. This is unforgiveable. She never even followed up with him or our family after the surgery. Shame on her!

She is the reason my father is dead. Terrible doctor, terrible human.

WORST EVER!!!! I cannot say enough about how horrible my experience with Cheryl Chen was.. She's the absolute WORST!!!
