Dr. Cheryl Swon Shih, MD

Dr.Shih took out my kidney and she was great. It was her duty to inform where she failed. It's a shame that the best doctors become liars to protect the medical corporations and colleagues. Thank God Washington has the discovery rule.

Dr Shih has a very abrasive bedside manner. She bullied me and was upset and insulting when I insisted that my kidney and flank pain was not psychosomatic. Her arrogance was obvious given the length of time I have been searching for answers. Honestly I think I represented something that she is very uncomfortable with. I am a Man.

Abrupt, cold and without empathy which feels aggressive. Did not allow time for lidocaine to take effect before performing cystoscopy, which was unnecessarily painful. Procedure intended to provide doctor with opportunity to biopsy and, if necessary, remove a bladder tumor; however, neither was done. Dr. Shih told me afterward that she "wasn't allowed to cut" during a cystoscopy, consequently surgery was required to do both. She seemed so confident I had cancer, without even having done a biopsy, that PRIOR to the cystoscopy the attending nurse told me I would be there often. Dr. Shih also told me if the biopsy (of my 1cm mass that she referred to as a 3cm tumor) was positive I would need a cystoscopy as often as every 3 months. This experience was unnecessarily traumatic and painful. I told her I was not willing to subject myself to a repeat, especially every 3 myths. I immediately changed doctors and reported her to Risk Management. I am concerned about her potential patients who,… for whatever reason, are not able to advocate for themselves.

I originally went to her for flank pain. She did a half hearted exam and, she absolutely loves to extract your urine directly from the bladder instead of having you urinate naturally. She then suggested a test to look further into my bladder. She was about 20 minutes late for that scheduled procedure stating her reason for her lateness was ER stops with ppl having Kidney stone issues. She WAS NOT Suppose to share that info. HIPPA breach. Nonetheless, Everything was very healthy and normal. She made an erroneous comment that, my uterus was very close to the bladder and with her warped opinion on suggesting a hysterectomy and then she made a very ignorant statement on how she thought cancer. Neither of her thoughts, comments or suggestions were true at ALL. I went to a more education skilled physician and, she found the problem to simply be, small oxalate crystals that were the ONLY problem. PRAY before you even think about going to Cheryl.
