Dr. Ching Lick Tong, MD

I came in for an auditory issue and casually mentioned I had a deviated septum and was curious about my options. Dr. Tong offered to take a look, and after returning to the waiting room I was called into a separate exam room where he inserted a scope about an inch into my nose. The entire thing lasted five seconds. He confirmed what I already knew — I have a deviated septum — and I was sent on my way. Shortly after, I received a bill for close to $1,000. When I called the office to question the unexpected charge, I was told I had signed a waiver — and that this waiver exists because they have received other complaints from patients about surprise bills. When I asked why they don't simply inform patients before performing unexpectedly expensive procedures, they had no intelligible answer. What followed was just as frustrating. I spent months trying to get the charge addressed, repeatedly being promised a callback, then waiting up to a month with no response before having to follow up… myself. My concerns went largely unanswered while the bills kept coming. Today I finally received a call informing me that after "careful" consideration, they have decided there is nothing they can do to help. To make matters worse, ZocDoc won't allow me to leave a review because it has been over 120 days since my appointment — which makes me wonder whether the months of delays and non-responses were a deliberate strategy to run out the clock. I cannot in good conscience recommend this practice to anyone.
