Dr. Chitra Anjani Bhakta, MD

Dr. Bhakta in my opinion is by far the most knowledgeable, dedicated, compassionate, empathetic Dr I have had the honor to have treat me. If not for her guidance, advice, and excellence in her practice I truly feel that I would not be on this Earth. I highly recommend Dr. Bhakta to anyone who is having a difficult time finding a Dr that will understand and listen to your concerns!

In my opinion I strongly caution against: However if you like setting fire to your cash, hearing the same speech over & over again about how smart she is while being charged like 7 hundred dollars an hour & have none of your questions & concerns answered then you've hit the jackpot & found your dream Dr. - Rude, won't return phone calls, has the most inneficient staff I have ever seen, your constantly lied too & get the old 'run around' treatment constantly (they told me if I can't afford their service perhaps I should look elsewhere, this coming from a 10 dollar an hour employee who I could buy & sell 500 times over)...I've seen 4 year olds make less mistakes & show better personal skills, charges you for blood tests that she never delivers on..In closing unless your a masochist & love getting worked over I would strongly advise finding another Dr. - Also is you like being yelled at and told your stupid while she speaks to you in a condescending tone then once again you've struck… gold..If you have a cough or a sniffle she may be able to help but it will cost you thousands of dollars and you will be worse than when you started . Buyer beware !!

Dr. Bhakta has literally saved my life. She is extremely intelligent and takes her time with you as if your no 1 priority. She is the only dr. I will recommend to anyone.

I called the office to make an appointment, they told me to send an email or call back, as they were closing. I sent an email stating to please call me A.S.A.P. to set up an appointment. Ten days later...NO RESPONSE. Guess Dr Bhakta is raking in the dough and socking it to the poor Lyme disease (and other needy) patients, and isn't really in the business of helping people. Just by reading other reviews and seeing her video with Dr Phil (GREAT advertising for her to do a pro bono), I can tell she's all about the money. Am sure she's good if all you need is aggressive antibiotic therapy and can spend spend spend.

Dr. Bhakta is the most intelligent physician I have ever been too. She spends 2-3 hours or longer on your first visit to get all of your history. No one does that anymore.Her background in genetics plays an important part of a treatment plan as many have genetic defects that change the course of medications. Her knowledge of these factors is life saving for me. She is evidenced based medicine so the person who says she is not is obviously biased with NO evidence. She is highly regarded in the Lyme, CFS, and Fibromyalgia communities.

We had spent two years under HMO doctors, another trying out of network doctors, and finally found Dr. B. She is passionate about her work, keeps up on the latest research, and truly cares. Because our Lyme took so long to get diagnosed properly the road to recovery has been slow and difficult. But at least we found someone who understands and doesn't just keep throwing pills at the symptoms but wants to treat the cause. My one wish is that she would be better organized. By the end of a visit she will have said one thing, but summarizes something similar but not exact. Her office staff has certainly helped lately with keeping things on time etc. Bottom line, if you want someone who is passionate, dedicated to her patients beyond belief, and into research, this is the doctor for you.

I would be quite skeptical about these perfect reviews. After several appointments I found her qualifications very questionable and her methods bordering on quackery. Many others share this opinion, so do diligent homework before wasting your money.

Dr. Bhakta is by far the most caring and yet very serious about getting her patients well. She is involved in the latest research with UCI on virus and bacterial triggers in chronic diseases. She is one of the few ILADS Drs that stay at the cutting edge in all the rapidly changing world of lyme. She was part of the clinical trials for the new lyme culture and treats each patient as a unique case not lumped in a group. Her autism background provides her with genetic expertise that many others do not understand along with her expertise in detoxing. She literally saved my life. I am so grateful to call her my doctor.

I first saw Dr. Bhakta in early 2010. I was seeking a LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) after getting the run around from a number of overpriced and ineffective medical groups in Los Angeles. Dr. Bhakta spent nearly 3 hours with me on my first appointment, even staying long after closing time to complete the most thorough medical history anyone had ever taken from me (I have seen well over 20 doctors in my 20+ year struggle with my health). Dr. Bhakta reviewed every page of labs that previous doctors had run on me, and once complete, drew up a comprehensive and relevant listing of additional tests I needed to have run before we could decide on a course of treatment. Given the serious nature of the treatment I needed, Dr. Bhakta was conservative in the decision making process, but confident and aggressive once we had agreed on a course of action. Dr. Bhakta is technically outstanding, and her research work, and access to high level peers makes her the most knowledgeable physician I… have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I also feel I need to comment on the review below, made by the parent of the child with Autism: You may have had to wait for your appointment at times, but the same level of care that made the doctor run late while treating other patients was, no doubt, given to you and your son. This level of care is impossible to come by in standard medical offices in this country. In fact, you mention that the doctor ordered a Lyme test that came back POSITIVE. If you had let the doctor explain the complexity of this disease to you, and how rare it is to test positive for Lyme, there may have been less resistance on your part to have additional confirmatory tests run before proceeding with what can be aggressive treatment. For anyone looking for a doctor open to tackling a complex medical condition, especially an unexplained long term chronic illness, I would, without hesitation, recommend Dr. Bhakta!
