Dr. Lam prescribes the best medication combination. I disagree with the review regarding the curves. He is explaining the process and how the medication works. There is no better doctor.

Pharmacology guru and not a therapist, totally out of touch

There is no science to prescribing medication for mental illness. It takes patience as a parent and numerous appointments for medication checks. Medication is never a stand alone treatment for any mental issue and combination with therapy is often required for maximum benefits. I do not know a physician who will just hand out medication refills without follow up, especially when their license is attached to the prescription . Psychiatrists diagnose and treat, sometimes with medication and sometimes without. If meds are needed, they do not do therapy, but need to refer you to someone. The good thing is that Dr. Lam can provide that service in his office with a therapist he trusts to care for your child. They can collaborate as a team to maximize your child's outcome and make changes if needed. Unfortunately, care is not for free! I do know it can be expensive, but he is worth it! He is a great provider and an expert in pharmacology. I trust he has my child's best interest at heart. He… calls back whenever I call and often spends a good bit of time on the phone to make sure he answers all questions and concerns. This is after hours and on his time! Got to respect that .

Dr. Lam treated my daughter; he is very knowledgeable and approachable. He seems to know in advance what your questions will be and he does not talk down to you. He is cautious and not quick to medicate, which was exactly the right approach for my daughter. Although he is expensive and he does not take insurance; he is not quick to run up the bill with more appointments. The other professionals he referred us to were also excellent; the man knows what he is doing.

Dr. Lam saved our daughter's life. He is easily accessible and always returns our calls right away when we have concerns between appointments. he is easy to talk to and very funny, which helped our daughter feel comfortable. Office is warm and welcoming.

I disagree with the other reviewer. Dr. Lam was very careful and thoughtful in his evaluation of our son. He explained everything thoroughly in a manner that was easy to understand. He is easy to talk to and we felt very comfortable with him. He took extra time with us to make sure he answered all of our questions. We opted to see the therapist in his office as an adjunct to medication. She is very experienced and has been a huge help to our family.

Dr. Lam is about conservation. His. He charges lots of money. He has zero decor. He is frugal. No name tags on door... Not for exclusivity but because it costs him money. He likes to generate visits. He likes control of Rx refills. He never uses spell check and send communications out with misspellings. He doesn't get kids... He is into Venn diagrams and pharmaceuticals. But people aren't machines. And not everyone fits a mold or goes into a cookbook diagnosis. He tries his best but he doesn't get the difficulty of scheduling. His one appointment takes two extra hours for kid transport. 3 hrs to spend dollars to get a one month drug Rx. No refill. No psychotherapy. So to get that you have to go to his therapist. More money more waste. Doesn't take insurance. It's how he makes income without needing to do patient procedures. Only game in town. All psychiatrists do it. Just a total waste of time and money. And it seems there is no end to this. No cure just drugs and visits. It's a… training that keeps the patient in sick mode not wellness.
